P.S. I have been trying to figure out what “statement” she could possibly be making with her dress, and I think I’ve finally got it. It’s …

“I’m an ass!”

Sorry you have to deal with this. I don’t have a sister and looked forward to having a SIL. It’s not always all it’s cracked up to be, though, is it? Maybe yours will grow up some day.

If she mentions her dress again, I would totally go all out and tell her how wonderful and beautiful it is, and how you can’t wait to see it on her. Will she still want to wear it if you approve of it? Wink

Her statement is that she is trying to make herself more important/more a part of the wedding day by wearing a dress with that combo of colors.

So immature. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this!

You guys are so galant and nice…..I would have  not handled that gracefully at all.  I am certain we would have had some words already.  If anyone is familiar with my past posts they’ll know how passionate I am about this wearing white as a guest topic.

Any how you ladies each get a hat’s off from me….congrats.

Ignore her and move on with your life. In fact, kill her with kindness. Wow!!! Great dress. You’ll match me because I’m wearing ivory too. The more you swoon over her and her dress, the better. Just don’t sound too fake lol.

LOL that’s a  great ending to the story!! It’s totally funny that she told people she was wearing a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress (a little looney, but funny).

I wore and ivory and black dress to my Future Sister-In-Law wedding in august. Though mine would never be mistaken for a bridal gown, and her dress was white. my dress was knee length, black slip under the ivory which was kind of see through but the ivory had black polk a dots on it as well.  Maybe that was inconsiderate of me but i really didnt think much about it at the time. (i wasnt in wedding mode yet, i had just gotten engaged and had never done research) i knew you shouldnt wear white but i didnt think about ivory, and i guess it was more of a cream than ivory.

i understand your concern and it seems she is just doing it out of spite..but be the bigger person, i think she wants a response out of you, dont give it to her.

what a turd. like everyone else said, she’s just trying to get a rise from you so ignore her. if she’s trying to look bridal, SHE will be the one to look like an idiot – it’ll only reflect badly on her!

oops, saw that it was resolved! what a loony SIL you now have!

Don’t worry, you’ll be the one wearing the bridal gown and that’s “statement” enough. If anything she’ll bring attention on herself alright…..not the knid she wants though!
