  1. Where did you go? Sandals St. Lucia
  2. Resort Name? Regency
  3. How many nights? 5
  4. What did the package include? airport transfer, transfers to different Sandals resorts on the island, food, our room had a mini fridge that was restocked daily.
  5. How much did it set you back (with or without airfare)? About $5500 including flights, tours, and souvieners. We stayed in a pretty good room too. The food at the resort was good. There was always food available. Plus, we had a spa credit which was worth it. We spent a little extra at the spa, but it was great.
  6. Would you visit the resort again/suggest it to a friend? Yes, I am trying to save up now so we can go back asap.
  7. How was the area? We’re you able to out and explore or did you pretty much just stay at the resort for fear of being shot, robbed, etc…? It seemed safe to me. The employees were super helpful and kind. I felt like a star the entire time we were there.

  1. Where did you go? Jamaica!
  2. Resort Name? Couples Swept Away
  3. How many nights? 7
  4. What did the package include? airfare and stay (food, drink and excursions)
  5. How much did it set you back (with or without airfare)? with airfare – 4,900 but here is the catch for that cost – we booked in december for a february honeymoon that happnened to land on both valentines day and presidents day. also when we booked they were “sold out” so the travel agent had to have a room released for us – just so happened the only room available was the “great house jacuzzi suit” which is their top of the line room – but all their rooms are nice, that room was not necessary for us.
  6. Would you visit the resort again/suggest it to a friend? yes! i plan to go back as soon as possible – probably for our 1 year, its the one place that i’ve been that has made me want to go back again and again
  7. How was the area? We’re you able to out and explore or did you pretty much just stay at the resort for fear of being shot, robbed, etc…? we stayed at the resort – this was mostly because we were exhuasted and didnt even really do anything until wednesday of that week. there was so much to do on the resort that we didnt need to leave (except for our quick trip to margaritaville and ricks cafe)

i know i posted on your other thread but thought i would give you the breakdown

  1. Where did you go? Punta Cana, DR
  2. Resort Name? Iberostar Grand Bavaro
  3. How many nights? 6?
  4. What did the package include? airfare, meals, drinks, room
  5. How much did it set you back (with or without airfare)? we got a deal through apple vacations that included our airfare for $3500. We also did a couples massage (extra) and a snorkeling half day trip (extra)
  6. Would you visit the resort again/suggest it to a friend? yes, i would recommend it to a friend. it was VERY low key and VERY nice. just what we wanted for our honeymoon.
  7. How was the area? We’re you able to out and explore or did you pretty much just stay at the resort for fear of being shot, robbed, etc…? we stayed at the resort for the most part, visiting the sister resorts next door, and going on some excursions. we didn’t really explore per say though and there isn’t much out there unless you drive into town, which we didn’t do.

@UpstateCait:  Yay!  Another opportunity to talk honeymoons! 🙂

  1. Where did you go? Bahamas
  2. Resort Name?  Sandals Royal Bahamian
  3. How many nights? 7
  4. What did the package include?  Unlimited everything, $200 spa credit, 24 hour butler service, room service (only butler levels get this), rolls royce/mercedes benz transfer to/from airport, reserved cabana on private island (big deal for me beings my skin doesn’t like the sun)…the butler’s literally wait on you hand & foot.
  5. How much did it set you back (with or without airfare)?  About $6k w/ airfare from Denver.
  6. Would you visit the resort again/suggest it to a friend?  Yes & Yes…However, I want to do a bit more exploring before I go to the same place again.
  7. How was the area? We’re you able to out and explore or did you pretty much just stay at the resort for fear of being shot, robbed, etc…?  We did go and explore the downtown.  There’s a bus stop right outside the resort that will take you straight into downtown for only $3.  I wasn’t afraid to leave the resort at all.  We went over to Atlantis one night so I could go to Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay’s restaurant).  There were a bazillion opportunies to do snorkel trips to the other Bahamian islands, but we never did any of them.  We spent most of our time on Sandal’s private island…pure heaven

Not for a honeymoon, but trips with my Fi:

  1. Where did you go?  Riveria Maya, Mexico (You fly into Cancun, take  45 min drive to Riviera Maya)
  2. Resort Name? Riu Palace- Riviera Maya
  3. How many nights? 5 nights
  4. What did the package include? R/T flights, 5 nights in an ocean view room, all food, all drinks, all taxes, room service, water sports (unmotorized).  Access to the 2 or 3 other Riu hotels all within walking distance.
  5. How much did it set you back (with or without airfare)? With air fare, $3500, for both of us, inclusive of travel insurance and transportation to/from hotel air port, and excursions while there.
  6. Would you visit the resort again/suggest it to a friend? Of course! We would’ve gone back for our honeymoon had we not gone so recently.
  7. How was the area? We’re you able to out and explore or did you pretty much just stay at the resort for fear of being shot, robbed, etc…? YES, did not find any safety issues, we left the resort and went into the quaint town to buy souvenirs.  We also took a bus to Cancun 1 night to party (booked through the Hotel, went on bus with hotel guests).  We booked excursions through hotel to go snorkeling, zip lining, and visited Tulum…all worth it!

This was not our honeymoon but it was a week long vacation nonetheless:

  1. Where did you go? Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
  2. Resort Name? Dreams Puerto Vallarta
  3. How many nights? 6
  4. What did the package include? booked via expedia… included airfare, hotel, all food, all drinks (including alcohol), all activities at the resort
  5. How much did it set you back (with or without airfare)? 1900 for 2 people including airfare
  6. Would you visit the resort again/suggest it to a friend? absolutely!
  7. How was the area? We’re you able to out and explore or did you pretty much just stay at the resort for fear of being shot, robbed, etc…?

The last one is trickier. When we went (Oct 09) I felt mostly safe except when we were trying to hail a cab back to the resort from the shopping district. Even then I more feared that the car was going to fall apart than that we’d be robbed. Now though there are some issues in that area so I might keep a close eye on that if I was going to book again. Other than that, the area was awesome! I absolutely loved the resort and I’m not sure I’d even care to leave the resort if we went again. It was absolutely the BEST beach I’ve ever been to. Completely breath-takingly beautiful and calm enough to just float in the sea. The food was awesome. The drinks were plentiful. It was by far my favorite resort I’ve ever been to (including the hawaii resort we just got home from… so that says something).

  5. How much did it set you back (with or without airfare)?  with airfare: $2700
