I think a wrap dress is any girl’s best friend.  So, a wedding gown with a wrap type design is going to be figure flattering.  Also, a v-neckline will elongate you and make anyone look longer and leaner.  Something like these.

These are some dresses I tried on, and the final one is my dress. They are all from DB and NON of them poofy (although I tried on 2/3 that were). I am a street size 18/20.

And now my dress 🙂

I’m a street size 16/18 and I’m going for an empire waist, loose A-line, goddess dress. No pics yet 🙁

Here is mine! I second the asymetrical wrap dress hiding a lot.  I am also a street size 16.

Above are some of the styles i tried on while gown shopping. I found that what flattered me the most were the fit and flare/ trumpet style gowns. The best way to minimize the belly area are corset backed dress. Maggie Sottero designs are beyond excellent for that! I purchased a MS gown and i love it its unqie and flatters greatly. I will post pics of the gown I ordered below:

Hope these examples help you and Good luck on your gown shopping experience!!!!!!

I personally think poofy dresses make bigger women look even bigger. I dont know what kind of dress this is called, all i know is that i tried it on and my size 20 butt looked GOOD -didnt ask no questions – couldnt get out of there fast enough with it. lol!

I’m a size 12 now but was a 16 when I tried on and purchased this dress (size 18 Mori Lee 1602).  It was surprisingly flattering given that my problem area is my belly (I have an apple shape).
