Looking at venues (county run locations that fit our budget) that require us to have “licensed and insured” caterers do the setup and cleanup of our event. We had originally planned to use a BBQ caterer such as Famous Daves to deliver and serve the food buffet style, but they don’t offer people to do the additional work of setting up tables and chairs for the event.
My question is, when we look up “full service” caterers, we get prices per person well above our budget. Famous Daves quoted us at $22pp incuding the setup of their equipment and people to serve the food during the event. How can we find caterers that don’t tripple the cost of the food just because we need 2-3 people to setup tables and chairs for an hour before and after the event. I’m not sure that’s worth $3-4k extra…
Have any of you bees had to work around this? Could we maybe get away with hiring an event coordinator that brought in people to setup and clean up? Am I crazy to think this price jump is unreasonable?
