I go to Newport yearly for I think the past 15 years, but always at the peak of the summer in Auguest so I’m not sure if my suggestions will be relevant for April.  However, in the summer, there are quite a few bars that should fit what you want, but there are not a LOT in the area, especially “rowdier” places persay.

Busker’s is one of the newest in the area and completely redone – a bit rustic inside.  It has a nice upstairs open patio deck. The place is huge, but seemed a little more relaxed and not as packed. http://www.buskerspub.com/

The Landing usually has outdoor entertainment with live music and is a place I often see bachelorette parties that time of year.  It may be worth checking out.  http://www.thelandingrestaurantnewport.com/

Forty One North/Christie’s is a very modern and “chic” type of place that looked super cool… However, I was only able to make it there for brunch.  It’s far back from the strip, but looks worth it.  They had nice furniture, giant chessboard (!?), several bars, and more that I could see and was mainly outside right on the water.  It looks like it’d have some potential for what you’re looking for, atleast for a fancy classy cocktail. http://www.41north.com/

I’ve never been to The Fifth Element yet, but this looked really interesting and hip when nearby. http://thefifthri.com/

One Pelham East and Newport Blues Cafe are usually pretty busy with live bands and a bigger crowd.  There’s always some band rocking out in the summer and people all over the place. http://www.thepelham.com/ and http://www.newportblues.com/Newport_Blues_Cafe/Home.html

Hope this helps a little bit! Honestly, it’s not too big or difficult to walk all of Thames street/America’s Cup Avenue and visit wherever you see the best crowd!

Beachy0404:  Hello! I just came across your post from last year and was wondering if you could give me more information on your experience. I am planning a bachelorette party in April this year in Newport and was looking at places to go out. Do you have any recommendations from your experience? Hope you had a wonderful time!
