Yeah, that’s also why the wedding band is worn under the e-ring – closer to the heart.

Yes, I learned this as as child. It goes back to Ancient Greece. Romans favored the right hand.

In many parts of the world people wear their wedding bands on their right hand. This is mostly in countries where people are mostly Eastern Orthodox but I think also in India. Everyone in my family thinks it’s weird that I wear my engagement on my left hand and that it won’t be going on my right.

Actually in Jewish weddings, the ring is placed on the bride’s right index finger, for two reasons: they believed that that finger had a vein that went directly to the heart (I mean, all your fingers are connected to the heart by veins, so it’s funny).  The other reason is that it’s a very prominent finger so witnesses could see the ring being placed there.

At our wedding, Darling Husband put the ring on my right index finger and I then transferred it to my left ring finger.  Worked as me “accepting” the ring, and it also allowed me to take off my e-ring and put them both back on together with the wedding ring underneath.
