I’m actually having 2 – one with my family in Alabama & one here with my friends!!
The friends one is the one I’m more focussed on for the fun – what kinds of activities and/or foods did you have/are having?! Share!

I’m not having a shower but one of the fun games I’ve heard is you get all the guests to buy a pair of panties for the bride, number them and put them up on a foam board. The bride then has to guess who bought which pair of panties! 😉 Can be a bit of a laugh as you can get something REALLY outrageous.

Haha! I’ve never heard of that one…great idea! 🙂

😀 Some people put limits on how much people can spend on it. So you can only buy panties that are $5 or something. Bit like secret santa.

Yeah, $5.00 wouldn’t be too much, especially since they’re already buying you a gift anyway. Suchh a good idea!

we had a chocolate themed shower for my friend- since her color was chocolate brown. there was chocolate everywhere- pretty chocolate cupcakes, personalized m&ms, chocolate roses. we played chocolate trivia, and guess what chocolate bar you’re eating. and we did the clothes pin game, where everyone wears a clothes pin and if you say the word chocolate it gets taken away.

It’s been done, but I love the idea of a Mad Hatter Tea Party. Think of all the tea, little sandwiches and fun girly things that could go along with it!!! It just makes me so happy 🙂

My BFF just had her couples shower this past weekend and we played dress the bride and groom out of toilet paper. Here’s a picture of my Fiance…the group decided to dress him up as the “bride”, he was a good sport about it!! It got a lot of laughs!!
The winner was by audience vote. He didn’t win 🙁

mine is in two weeks! 🙂 we are doing traditional filipino party food – pancit, lumpia, etc. and some desserts. sparkling ciders for drinks.
for games, we are playing:
– variation on the clothespin game, we are using bracelets. you can’t say “wedding” or the groom’s name or you lose yours. person with the most wins.
– bridal bingo during the gift opening
– how well do you know the bride?
– famous husbands game… names of famous brides are listed, they have to name the husbands

Just saw a cute game idea……it’s referred to as “the shoe game”, but it could be done at a wedding shower with a paddle that has BRIDE on one side and GROOM on the other. Put the bride and groom back to back and ask a series of questions like:
-who is the biggest flirt
-who made the first move
-who’s the better cook
-who said “I LOVE YOU” first
-who has the wackiest family
-who’s the better driver
-who’s the faster driver
-who spends the most time in front of a mirror
-who is in control of the checkbook
-who is most likely to eat desert for breakfast
-who wears the pants in the family
-who is in charge of the remote
-who spends the most time getting ready to go out
-who will be doing most of the yard work
-if you haven’t already… who is most likely to pass gas in front of the other first
-now that you’re married, who will be the first to say… “not tonight”
-who’s the better kisser
-who will be the first to fall asleep tonight
-who has the smelliest feet
-who steals the cover’s more
-who popped the question
-who says “I love you” the most in one day
-who talks more
-who’s most likely to use up all the hot water
-who’s most likely to get lost
-who’s most likely to ask for directions
-who’s the 1st one to make up after a fight
-who’s the one that started the fight in the first place
-who’s the most likely to wake up grumpy in the morning
-who’s most likely to wake up with a hangover in the morning
-who’s most likely to be running late
-who spends more money
(always ask this next question last)
-and finally… Who do you love the most in the whole wide world…

For my cousins shower, I went with a Breakfast at Tiff’s theme and I asked all the ladies to wear black and their pearls. I made really cool centerpieces and the food was sit down but little sandwiches and stuff so it didn’t get too expensive. I setup a photo area with props so while everyone was arriving, ladies were having fun taking pictures. I had 1 or 2 other games, “guess how old my cousin was based on pictures” and I asked her questions about her fiance and each one she got wrong she had to take a piece of gum.
For my sisters shower (1 month later), I went with a gift theme and asked people to bring gifts based on a “time”. Time to party, time to sleep, time to organize, time to play, time to cook, etc… It was fun figuring out which time each lady had if they didn’t use my tags I provided in the invite. We played the TP wedding dress game, I asked her questions about her fiance but she got marshmallows if she got them wrong (much better than gum) and we played another game which was hilarious but I don’t want to share and ruin it in case other brides are having the game as a surprise at their shower. It was only a hit because no one new the secret. My mother said a friend of hers stated she had a great time and my mom said all she had ever heard from this woman before is how she hates showers.

I am the QUEEN of bridesmaids. I’ve been to lots of weddings, and have planned tons of showers/parties/etc. One of the most fun was actually an old school slumber party. We had oodles of candy, games like “Pretty, Pretty Princess”, “S.W.A.K.,” ” Mall Madness,” and “Girl Talk,” and we had Movies and TV shows like “She’s All That” and “My So Called Life” playing all night while we drank theme drinks like “Pretty in Pink Cosmo” and “John Cusack Loves Me” (i.e. passionfruit cosmo and long island ice teas in glasses that I stuck John Cusack’s face on hahaha). We ate pizzas and funfetti cupcakes and ridiculous teen snack foods like gushers and fruit rollups as well. We played bride games like the toilet paper wedding dress one, and I gave everyone a piece of paper with colored pencils and stickers so that they could write/draw their advice/thoughts on the bride-to-be too. Having everyone contribute a page to a book (coupled with a polaroid of them at the shower) tends to be the biggest hit whenever I do it because the bride-to-be gets to walk away with a shower keepsake 🙂
Obviously, this wasn’t a sophisticated event, but that’s what made it fun. For a more elegant friend of mine, we did a wine party. Everyone brought a different wine, and we ate cheeses, breads and oils, opened gifts, and each talked about our favorite memory we have with the bride-to-be. Just a few ideas…Either way, no matter what you do, you’ll have a blast!
