I like this!

I’ve been gearing up to spend nauseating amounts of money on a dress, and suddenly 3 family members are offering to let me wear their vintage ones! Alterations= way less expensive than dress + alterations (which would be totally necessary, because I am 5 feet tall).

Buget win!

We weren’t sure if we’d be able to take a honeymoon right away because we’re just paying for things as we go with that month’s pay. Future Mother-In-Law was asking who was going to care for our little boy during the honeymoon and I told her I wasn’t worried about that yet because the honeymoon was concrete yet. And she offered to pay for it!

My great budget news:  A friend who owns a restaurant has offered to cater the dinner for…wait for this…$12 a plate! He said he promises it will be “gourmet comfort food”!  I am ecstatic. considereing everything I saw when I was researching was at least double that.  He is doing it for his cost only. And another friend who is a popular local band has offered to play a set for free (we will still have a DJ.) Yay!

Our wedding is on a friday night (we didn’t really have a choice because all the Saturday’s for the next 2 years at our location are booked up), and because of that we get 50% off our rental fee! Score!!

And almost forgot, my brother is a dj so as a gift he is taking care of our music.  And our photographer isn’t a pro, but still takes amazing pictures (she did our engagement pictures) and she is around $300.00 for the day. However,  I am sure all of our “savings/deals” will evaporate once we have to pay the bar bill!

@TankGirl: Let’s just say that for junior prom, I had to have 14 inches altered off the bottom of my dress. Hahaha!

@futuremrshc: AWESOME news!! Congrats! Where are you going?!

@LittleDee27: I love friendors!

 @Miss Smurf: Holy cow! That’s awesome!

I am loving the joy here!

We found a photographer for only $250!!! She’s just graduated high school, but has been doing senior photos, family photos and portraits for 3 years now. She doesn’t do any prints, but she’ll give us a disc with all the photos, photoshopped if need be, so we can print whatever we want, whenever we want! I think it’s awesome!

Also, I found my dress at a little shop. It was originally $3000, but I got it for $695! PLUS, the alterations are included, and she threw in a free veil!!

My fiance decided all he was interested in was chicken too, but even better, we decided against getting a wedding cake. We’re going with a wedding pie!! (which grandma is making us for free!)

We’re finding all kinds of great deals! This is a great thread! I’m so glad to see people being HAPPY about their weddings!!

We’re having a private destination wedding (read: planned elopement) in NYC and was quoted around $2000 for 3-4 hrs of photography of just the two of us. Then an old friend and AMAZING photojournalist told me that if we paid travel and gave him $100 he’d do our wedding. Yay! Even with the plane ticket and 2 nights in a nice hotel its less than HALF of what we were seeing for what are sure to be beautiful photos! (His other wedding photos are some of the best I’ve ever seen). Needless to say, I’m thrilled!

I am in a lottery group at work and we throw in money every payday to buy lottery tickets.  Just recently our group of 26 won $100K so once it was split up, I could add an extra $3846 to our wedding budget!

I got great news about our venue this week. The plated meal costs less than the buffet, and the manager is a good friend and is waiving the surcharge. It’s at a hotel, and she is giving us the presidential suite for the weekend for free as our wedding present!

I heart friendors!
