hi bees. im having an afternoon wedding on Nov 4. Our wedding will be over by 5pm. I read an article ‘5 things im glad i did on my wedding day’ . On of the was wearing her dress in a public place after the reception is over. it sounds fun… but where on earth would be a cool place to wear it without it being totally odd lol

I think the oddness factor would be eliminated if you take your whole wedding party/friends/family with you to continue the celebration. Yes, if I just saw a woman, alone in a wedding dress randomly out I’d be like “huh, ok” BUT if I saw a woman in her wedding dress, with her groom, and her people celebrating and having the best time ever, I’d be like “oh yeah, she’s doing this right” haha. Maybe go to a bar or somewhere that is a favorite place of yours that you’d like to go on your wedding day. Or maybe there’s a beautiful outdoor area you could go explore, if it’s nice where you’re getting married in November. I’ve seen wedding parties out and about before, nobody will think it’s odd as long as oyu own it – and if some random person in public does think it’s odd, who cares?!

We had an afternoon wedding too….I changed out of my wedding dress and put my rehearsal dinner dress on but my hair and makeup was still done. We went into a Mcdonalds on the way to our resort a few hours away. It was kind of fun and I got some crazy looks! Maybe a park or somewhere outdoors, a fancy restaurant? We wanted so bad to go eat somewhere nice the night of our wedding but the drive took longer than expected so we couldn’t.

We are eloping. Our ceremony is in the afternoon and my husband-to-be and I will be going to a couple of nearby beaches after (and probably a cafe) with our photographers to get some great photos. My dress has rather a dramatic train so I expect we will get some looks, but hey, you only live once!

I would think just wearing it to get a taxi and/or wearing it to the hotel. Or what about going to a convenience store to pick up aspirin or something – people might say fun things to you there. Honestly the whole idea sounds too contrived – it’s the kind of thing that’s better if it just happens. Sort of like how it would be strange to “plan” for your ring bearer to make a cute mistake. Just trust that it will be a special day and be open to everything, I’d say.

My fiance and I plan on finding the greasiest and best poutine that we can find after our wedding with our best friends. We both love food, and it’s rare that we just sit and eat dive bar quality late night food. We kind of want to get a picture of the juxtaposition of us in our formal wear in a diver bar setting or at a food cart.

We took some photos at a brewery after our ceremony and took our whole wedding party on a party bus to get there. When we got there, everyone in the bar area cheered for us! After we took pictures, we all had a drink. It was a lot of fun!

I had my bachelorette party in Columbus a few months ago and while we were at a taco and tequila restaurant a bride and groom walked in with their entire bridal party. They all hung out at the restaurant and ordered tacos and margaritas. It looked like a fun time!

My husband and I went to In N Out directly from the reception on our way to the hotel. I was in my gown and he was in his tux. I wish I had pictures! It was SO. FUN. I definitely recommend it!!

after my friend’s wedding, a bunch of us went to a biker bar. it’s close to our neighborhood, and a place we grab dinner every now and then anyway.
we all went for drinks in what we wore to the wedding. the bride and groom came too for a little bit.

We went straight to the hotel… But our key wouldnt work so we had to trek back down from the 4th floor in our wedding clothes. I have never seen someone at the front desk move so fast to get us on our way… Waiting in line in a Wedding Gown is the trick to easily cutting line without a blink from the fellow guests lol

We eloped and went out to eat at a nice restaurant after our wedding. It was fun eating out in the wedding dress. Plus, it got us free champagne!!!

Due to a series of odd events, I ended up wearing mine to the movie theater later that night, with my husband in his tux and many friends in decently nice clothing.
We saw a late night showing of The Dark Knight, with friends we used to do a weekly movie night with that we hadn’t seen for a few years since we moved out of state. It was so much fun! Only regret: No pictures. =(

We’re going down to River Street in Savannah after the wedding. We were actually getting drunk on River St when we decided on our wedding date (after only three months of dating), so we feel like it’s appropriate!
