So after commenting on the low vs. high maintenance – I thought it would be fun to dissect if you are more of a girly girl or a tomboy, breaking down hobbies/interests that are traditionally liked by one sex more than the other.
I am a mix of both. When it comes to girly, I do love wearing dresses, makeup, jewelry, chocolate martinis, scrapbooking, and talking about weddings and home decor.
On the other hand, I am tomboyish because I HATE romantic comedies/girly movies, along with any overly girly TV show like Friends or the show with that girl with the thick bangs that girls are obsessed with, news about the royal family, and celebrity entertainment “news” in general, and I don’t really like babies or kids. I also love beer, brewing beer, college football, playing fantasy football, burping contests, and extremely crude humor.
So what about you? Are you one or the other, or a mix of both? List how you fit into one or both categories.

I’m a combo, for sure. I love shopping, wearing heels and being girly. However, I also love going to the range with SO, watching football, drinking beer and hanging out in the garage. The girly side outweights the tom boy side, but there is a good combo of both.

Neither… I’m serious. I see myself as “ladylike” which is not close to either of those.

I am such a girly girl, it’s not even funny

@AnnieAAA: Not to threadjack, but why do you consider “Friends” overly girly?

Love dresses, pretty little things, decorating, jewelry, girly body products, and the store anthropologie (I know!).
But I also love burping, farting, hiking, camping, and sports (just playing, not watching). And I CANNOT STAND most “women’s interest” stuff — like daytime talk shows, women’s magazines, rom coms (ok, except the really good ones), etc.
Is it weird that I said I “love” farting? 🙂

I should have voted both.
Tomboy side of me wrestled on the boys wrestling team and ALWAYS hung with the boys rather then girls.
Girly Girl side of me likes to get really dressed up and loves to be pampered.

@Regina Phalange: I guess only for the sole reason that every single one of my girlfriends thinks I am SO weird for not liking Friends, and that most of my guy friends never watched it. I’m sure there are many men who loved the show, but in my circle it seems like the only ones who did are the chickas, lol!

I was raised a tomboy (no girls or women around), but by the time I got to high school I started picking up some feminine influences.
On a typical work-free evening you will either find me cross-stitching or playing xbox with Fiance and his roommates. That pretty much sums it up.

I don’t really consiser myself a “girly-girl” or a “tomboy” because to me, you’re just a girl no matter what you like, and no matter what you do. It’s not something that simply liking football or sneakers can change. Plus, what makes something more “girly” than another thing? Stereotypically something may be girlie — but this is 2012, and I can like whatever I damn well please and be just as feminine as the next lady.
I love football, and see nothing tomboyish about it. Tons of girls love football, and tons of men hate it. I also like makeup, but I don’t find that to be very girly (men wear it, even women who aren’t outwardly very feminine wear it). I like comfortable and dressy clothes equally, prefer my sneakers to flats for comfort, but wear flats most often. Other than that — I seem to like very “unisex” things: reading, writing, hiking, sailing, shopping, the internet, etc.
I may like plates, and various dish and serveware more than the average male, but I don’t feel that is something only a “girly-girl” would like.

I was a tomboy up until about 7th grade. Now I’m such a girly girl. I would rather wear a dress any day of the week, Love fashion, makeup, babies, kitties/puppies, Disney princesses. Things like that 😛 I’m not a total wuss though either – I enjoy action movies, I go hiking/fishing/camping (REAL camping in a tent). I’m probably like 80/20 girly/tomboy at this point.

I was a total tomboy as a child (played sports with boys, didn’t get along with girls, prefered boy’s toys, hated wearing a dress….etc)
Now, I would say I am a mix.

I’m pretty much a girly girl
I just don’t like shopping, other wise I fit the bill

@AnnieAAA: I’m a mix. I swear like a sailor but love my beauty products and perfume. I am easily hurt (physically), but I still try to wrestle with my 6’1″ SO (I’m 5’4″) and expect to one day win. I hate romantic comedies but I love Say Yes to the Dress. I cry really easily. I love NHL hockey and F1 racing. I love fast cars. I love to wear pretty clothes and do my nails. I love everything sparkly/glittery lol.
