My colors are yellow and teal/or close to teal. And I have asked if dear FH would wear a red tie. Will it look off? Sure but there is meaning behind it. Actually two things. First is extremely symbolic. My father died of brain cancer a few years ago. I miss that man like crazy. But when he got sick, his eye sight wasn’t too great. One morning out of the blue he came downstairs in this bright red shirt. This is a shirt that he only ever wore on vacations. I just remember laughing so hard and thinking only my dad. So Fh will be wearing a red tie to bring my father into the ceremony. It’s silly and no one will really understand but it means something to me..

WHy else is he wearing a red tie? Oh cause he believes he’ll look like pee wee herman. Yeah, i made the mistake of mentioning grey suits and of course the picture I showed him had grey suits with red ties. It”ll bring out FH playful side.

I’m also going to look into some lego handcuffs (he loves legos). And for the reception, which is in a friends backyard, the groom and the groomsmen will be wearing custom tuxedo shirts.

@Birdee106:  Almost the same thing for my DH! He’s the lead guitar player in a popular local cover band, so his unique touched were his DIY guitar pick bout and his Converse shoes! You couldd get him a cool tie or cufflinks…what kind of stuff is he into?

Darling Husband did the converse shoes and the guests LOVED it…he also wore scrabble cufflinks with his initials.

ETA: All the guys including the groom wore fishing flies as boutinneires (hand-tied by his dad). They turned out really pretty.

@MissesAwesome:  Just keep in mind that this is his wedding too and in the end it won’t matter how fancy it was. It matters that you both had a great time. You’ll remember the cute details, not how fancy things were.

How fun!  My fiance is planning on wearing funky socks, tie, and pocket square which will all coordinate somewhat with the other groomsmen.  Cufflinks and tie bar/clips/pinks are other ways to personalize his outfit along with choosing the tie or bow tie and/or suspenders.  I also told my fiance that I wanted to do non-floral boutineers and he ran with the idea.  He actually got inspired by my DIY projects and ended up crafting his own bouts for himself, groomsmen and family which are fabric calla lillys with bright fabrics.  I’ve seen guys use bouts to really show their personality with things from robots, legos, guitar pics and even sports themed bouts. He could also get crazy by wearing loud boxers or different shoes or I’ve seen guys write things on the bottom of their shoes so it shows for the whole church when he kneels.

Also, regarding his interest in wearing chucks and your hesitation (which I would feel the same about) maybe he could wear ‘normal’ formal shoes to the ceremony and then change into chucks for the reception (or at whatever point you guys deem appropriate).  Good luck!
