To all you already married, or even engaged bees, lets play a game. Let’s saw that we were all for vow renewals ( I know it’s not a thing for some of you…but for the sake of the game, play along).
Let’s say on your 5th, 10th, 25th (or whatever) anniversary you are financially able to have a vow renewal. What type would you have? Would it be similar to your wedding day? would it be private? would you have a lot of guest and a big party?
I’ll go first:
I think my hubby and I would have a vow renewal “elopment” and probably go to a beach ssomewhere at a really expensive, really fancy resort andd go all out with the resort package. My hubby likes beach weddings so this would be for him mostly.
I think I would get a tea legnth dress, because I think they’re cute. No expense would be spared, we would have a bottle every night and probably get the most expensive suite on the resort.
my other choice would be to do the renewal in Paris or Italy somewhere…but that’s cheating, since I should just get one. hehe

I am planning a vow renewal, but I am going to approach this as a game of “in my budget was unlimited.”
Mad tea party reception:
This would be OTT for a vow renewal, but how neat is this reception pic?

KingsDaughter: Same as you an elopement for sure. In Bora Bora, it looks like paradise. We’d keep it private too.

Bridey77: that cake is amazing!!
We would probably also do an elopement style renewal. We were both really keen on getting married on top of a mountain in New Zealand (they have packages where you fly up in a helicopter) but we would only be able to have a couple of guests so we put it in the no pile.. I’d love to one day do it though, New Zealand is so stunning and a great place to honeymoon at after!

We want to renew in two years. I want it just us and our two kids. At Disney or on a beach in FL.. Not sure yet… Than a nice dinner after!!

I’ve told the Fiance that I would absolutely LOVE to do a vow renewal in Las Vegas. It’s where he proposed and since the Goretorium (where he did it) is no longer open, the next best thing would be to do it at the Evil Dead Musical which we saw on the first night we were there.
It would be so us and just a lot of fun, and I joked that it would be the only time I would wear a white dress because you can opt to get a bucket of blood dumped on you lol.

Bridey77: wow that is elaborate and wimsical. you won me on that dress.

TrueLove407: DISNEY!!!! 🙂

KingsDaughter: We had to give up our initial honeymoon idea when we decided to buy a house during the planning process. We were going to Fiji for a week to stay in a private bure. So the plan now is to go for our 10th anniversary. We’ll leave the kids at home with my parents (you know, the kids we don’t have currently, but hope to have over the next 10 years.) And we’ll renew our vows to one another in a private ceremony.

I was actually just thinking about this the other day! If we were to renew our vows, I would love to go the Smoky Mountains in mid October. I would rent a cabin for our families and two of my friends (they were bridesmaids) to stay for the weekend, and Darling Husband and I would book our own cabin for the rest of the week. I wouldn’t have a bridal party, but I would love to have our nieces and nephews dressed in fall colors, throwing leaves from a basket and pair siblings up with each other. I think I would wear a simple wedding dress and Darling Husband would wear the same suit he wore to the wedding. I would love to have a natural wooden arch with a view of the mountains behind us. And afterwards, a very small reception with fall decor, simple foods, and a small cake.

My husband and I have recently talked about our vow renewal so I love this thread! We are hoping to renew our vows at our 7 year mark (lucky number 7! We were engaged after dating 7 years and were married on 7/7) and most definitely will be doing it privately. Probably with just us and our children and we would love for our good friend who officiated our wedding to be there too. It would be a dream to do this in Hawaii where we spent our honeymoon but we’ve also been slowly planning our first little family trip (we have a one year old son) to a beautifully lush small town a couple hours away from home. If we love it as much as we hope we will, that could be an option too. We’re just really wanting something quaint, warm and cozy 🙂 aannnnnd wedding planning was a bit overwhelming for me so nothing that would entail too much planning haha.

KingsDaughter: I wish that was my honeymoon! I’ve loved those over the water bungalows since before I met my husband. Maybe someday.
I have always felt like like Alice out of Wonderland. I really wanted an Alice themed vow renewal, but too much money $$$$$. When you google that theme though, the most amazing inspiration pics come up!
Look at this skirt!

I think either a Vegas or Paris “elopement” would be magical! Maybe for a “big” anniversary, like 25. Dang, we’ll be old then!!

I’m renewing my vows this fall, so similar to what I’m planning, but daydreaming with an unlimited budget . . . =)
I would go to the most upscale bridal salon and get ANY dress that I wanted–if it’s a $20,000 dress, so be it! I would do a private ceremony with just Darling Husband and the kids, take pictures with the same photographer that we used for our wedding, and then send the kids off with a babysitter while the “reception” part of the night was just me and Darling Husband. We would go to the fanciest restaurant in the city where I would have rented out a small private room and filled with lavish decorations. I would have an ice sculpture sushi bar and then we would do some fancy tasting menu. Since we didn’t have a groom’s cake at our wedding, I would have a cake in DH’s favorite flavor shaped like one of his favorite things, our dog. =)
The real version in the fall is the same except a cheaper dress and a very simple “reception” part where we just go to a fancy restaurant. I’m so excited, I don’t feel like I’m missing out by not having the crazy expensive event that I described above. But, it’s still fun to daydream about spending tons of money. =)
