Post your pictures of your wedding vs. prom dress. Were they similar? Very different? Year difference? What kind of dresses (shape, material)?
Prom dress: sheath, satin. Year 2006. V-neck with straps and a v-neck slightly low-ish back, chocolate brown
Wedding: trumpet/fit-&-flaire, alencon lace and 4-ply silk, long sleeves, with a open/very low back
The styles are similar, I never really noticed but I must like showing my back haha. Definetly not the hugest fan of strapless (not much to hold it up). The shapes are similar, but not the same.

@KingsDaughter: i didn’t have a prom and I still don’ have a wedding dress, but I still drool everytime I see yours *____*

My prom was back in prehistoric times; you know, before digital cameras. I don’t think I have a prom photo. Suffice it to say my Sr prom dress was a sequined strapless satin in tea length. Wedding dress is nothing like it. Yay!

My school formal (Australian equivalent of a prom) was in 1992, so I’m showing you all how old I am LOL.
And to be honest I’d completely forgotten about what I wore then until my mum helpfully reminded me that my wedding dress was a lot like my formal dress, 21 years later.
This wasn’t really what i wanted to hear as my formal dress was the epitome of early 1990s fashion – puffed sleeves, giant sboulder flower, mullet skirt and so on.
So I’d like to think that the only thing they had in common was the colour – both of them were navy blue. But my wedding dress was drapey, a-line, v-neck, natural waist, floor length and chiffon and had lace cap sleeves – the formal dress was tea-length, sweetheart neckline, short sleeves to about mid-arm, dropped waist, straight and this god-awful plasticy taffeta.
I’m traumatising myself thinking about it to be honest LOL.

@AnaA: thank you. Oh well how about any type of formal dress you may have worn previous to your wedding that highlights your style eveolution @iloverocks

I don’t have a picture. I was goth so my prom dress was quite fancy, a corset over a long, A-Line black dress, long black velvet and lace gloves, lace choker, etc.
I went for trumpet style this time with ruffles at the bottom (my reception dress is a purple prom dress actually, I never pictured myself wearing white for my wedding).

This is the BEST thread hahaha. I don’t have a photo on me of my prom dress but it was deep purple with a halter top and rossettes around the halter. I felt so pretty , and I honestly still have the dress in my closet. I’ve worn it since (it is knee length).
No wedding dress yet.

@KingsDaughter: oh well! my mom throwed me a bridal shower last week and I wore this:
It is a dress my mom lend me, so it is not quiiiite my style, but I liked it enough hehe.

My prom dress looked like a wedding dress and my wedding dress looked like a prom dress. Go figure!

I didn’t go to prom but if I had the dress would probably be considered a train wreck since it was early 80’s. My daughter, however, whose prom was in 2008, had a gorgeous prom dress: custom-made corset, skirt and shawl. I spent a FORTUNE but it was her dream dress.

well my prom was just a touch before digital pics (2001) but it is oddly similar: a line duchess satin with lace on the top. It was navy, which is what my Bridesmaid or Best Man are wearing!
I guess, when you like something, you like something!

Junior Prom Dress, 2002. Silk (or something similar) sheath, fully beaded, V-neck, matching sash included.
Wedding Dress, 2013. Allure lace, heavily beaded and rhinestoned, mermaid fit, sweetheard neckline, cap sleeves.
Aside from my love of all things beaded and blingy, they’re not really similar at all.
