To be clear, I’m not talking about fundraising FOR my wedding
My wedding is next year over Memorial Day. I was thinking about the holiday and whether my brother (who’s in the Air Force) will be able to make it, and an idea came to me. Maybe I can somehow raise some money for a good cause in conjunction with my wedding. However, I’m not really sure how I can do this. I don’t want to start passing around a collection plate on my reception because that might be a little weird. I am thinking I could put up something about it on my wedding website, that we are making a donation to this cause and you can too, etc. Another idea is the dollar dance, which is traditional for my FI’s area. Instead of doing it for us, we can do the dollar/bridal dance and say we are donating it to such-and-such cause?
Has anyone done anything similar, or have any ideas on how to do this? I don’t necessarily want to ask people to donate money, but I want them to know that we are respecting the Memorial Day holiday and they can donate if they choose to.
