After our first dance, we’re looking for a montage of songs so guests will get up and dance with us. So it’ll fade out of our first dance song and into others.
This is what we have so far:
~ Less Talk More Rokk by Freezepop
~ Gangam Style by PSY
~ Instanbul (Not Constantinople) by They Might Be Giants
~ Whoomp! There It Is by Tag Team
They’ll all fade into each other. We’re not sure how long it’ll be, but want options to choose from. What funky songs would you love to dance to in a crowd?

@LMD84: We have that in our reception playlist, but we’re skipping MJ songs for this. It just seems overdone?

This is a really cute/fun idea! I think it’s hard sometimes to come up with really funky dance songs that everyone will want to get up and move to, but here are a few that I personally like (most of which probably wouldn’t be considered “dance” songs, but they’re songs I think are fun to dance around to!):
– Something by MGMT. We’re most likely going to play “Electric Feel” at our wedding because some of my friends and I have a funny/quirky little dance we like to do to it (so they’d definitely get up and have fun with it!). If you don’t like that one, “Kids” and “Time To Pretend” are both pretty popular and danceable.
– “Molasses” by The Hush Sound. I think this song is really fun to dance around to, but you may not. My fiance actually likes it as well (we don’t always agree on music!), so we’re probably going to include it at some point during our reception. It’s definitely not what a lot of people would consider a “dance” song, but it is worth a listen if you’re interested in something a little different.
– Something by The Faint. I don’t know if you’ve ever listened to them, but their songs are very danceable (in my opinion, at least!). A couple of my personal favorites are “Glass Danse” and “The Geeks Were Right”.
– “Daylight Robbery” by Imogen Heap. I just think it’s a cool song, and it’s a little different.
I can’t think of any others right now. I hope this helps. If you hate all of them, that’s okay too. I just thought I’d throw out a few ideas.

I don’t have any suggestions, but thought I’d contribute something more important. 🙂

Ac/dc: She shook me all night long. (they say it’s not wedding appropriate, but I’m doing it!)
Wild Cherry: play that funky music
And, it’s a law, you have to play Sir Mix A lot: Babys got back

@angelinthesnowxo: Thanks for the list! I’ll have to check them out.

@BetterSherm: No problem! I actually went to see The Faint (one of my suggested bands) last night, and they played both of the songs I mentioned. It was a really fun atmosphere (kind of like one big sweaty dance party), but I realize not everyone would be into them. My fiance hates them, so I’m REALLY going to have to push to have at least one of their songs played during our reception! Haha.

if it’s a montage and you’re only doing a clip to get people moving, i’d suggest anything by LMFAO (party rock anthem, sexy and i know it) because they are pretty popular dance club-ish songs but annoying in excess. =)
