Fiance and I were talking about the BM/MOH speeches this past weekend and it got me thinking about what my Maid/Matron of Honor will write about. We’ve been best friends for almost 15 years so she has plenty of material to work with. I figured everyone has to have atleast one funny speech-worthy memory with their Maid/Matron of Honor so let’s share em’!
I’ll start… My memory is painful but definitely the most vivid and entertaining to look back on now. We were partners in 8th grade gym class during golf week. One of the warm-ups was to drive balls from on top of this big hill into the woods next to school. Well, I didn’t realize that she was swinging and she didn’t realize that I was behind her so when she hit the ball, she finished her swing with my face. Golf club right to the cheek bone! Hitting your best friend in the face with a golf club would normally warrant an apology, right? Well that came later but the first thing she said to me was “You ruined my swing!” and I replied with “You ruined my face!”. She ended up cracking my cheek bone and I refused to talk to her for like a week.
At the time it totally sucked (I can’t even explain how ridiculous I looked) but now we look back and laugh about it. I would bet money that the golf club story makes its way into her speech.

Great story! My Maid/Matron of Honor is my sister, so one funny memory I have is that when we were kids, every Saturday morning we would wake up and ransack the kitchen for food (don’t ask why, I think we would get bored watching cartoons and wanted to get into something). My parents would be asleep, and my sister and I were always looking for something to snack on. We remembered my mom had bought salt water taffys, so we made it our mission to find them. Well, after tearing through all of the kitchen cabinets and looking through my mom’s so called “secret hiding places” WE FOUND THEM! We told one another we would only eat one. . . or two. . well make that three . . . ok the whole box! We were worried we would get in trouble so we stuck all the wrappers back in the box and left my mom 1 salt water taffy . . . and it wasn’t even a good flavor. She was piiiiisssed!

Awesome stories! This is such a fun thread!
I have to say that mine has to do with the day before my wedding. My Maid/Matron of Honor stayed over with me at my parents’ house, and I kept her up until almost 3am just talking about stuff. She was cracking me up with stories of our childhood (we had been friends since we were 9), and it was just such an awesome time with her. It made me realize how lucky I was to have such an awesome and loyal friend for all these years!

My Maid/Matron of Honor was my sister, so we have a life time of funny memories. She didn’t do a speech (we’re not get up in front of people kind of people), but if she did I wouldn’t have been surprised if she talked about when we were little and she and her friend would dress me up like a princess and wait on me. It was their idea!

- Wedding: May 2011 - Bartram's Garden
I don’t have an Maid/Matron of Honor, but out of my three bridesmaids, the one I’m closest to is my sister. And I don’t know if I can tell my funniest memory with my sister, because it sets a bad example.
Let’s just say that it took place in Amsterdam, and it did NOT involve a prostitute, and we’ll leave it at that. 🙂

I’ve known my Maid/Matron of Honor since birth. We’re practically sister. She didn’t grow up in my city though so she’s pretty unfamiliar driving here. She also had her licence before me which meant, when she came to visit, she drove and I directed.
There have been SOOOO many times we’ve driven on the wrong side of the road (we have a lot of one way streets). Including one time we almost crashed into her MOTHER. Yea…. We’re usually pretty terrified while it happens, but then laugh about it when we realize we’re on a road going the right direction and still alive.
Luckily, I drive now, so when she comes to visit, I do all the driving.
