So, after 7 long months of waiting, our loan was APPROVED!! There are obviously a few conditions but my favorite is that the bank wants Fiance and I to “describe our relationship”. HAHA! Fiance and myself each had a hearty laugh as we thought about what they wanted us to write down. I suggested “life partners” and he suggested we write the story of our relationship from start to present but I’m sure we’re just going to write “engaged to be married in July of 2010”.
How silly! Did enyof you bees who purchased homes before you were married have to describe your relationship??

We haven’t found a house yet, but when we applied for a mortgage they asked us for our relationship–I think it’s pretty standard.
When we got our marriage license, they asked us what our relationship was and I was about to say “pretty good, we’re getting married soon” when my now-husband said “none” and I finally realized they were asking if we were related. Duh.

When we bought our first house (before we were even engaged), we had to write a letter to the bank describing our relationship. They needed to know about how we were splittling up property rights (we’re both co-owners) and that sort of thing.
What I did find weird was a question our mortgage company when we bought our second home this fall. My husband and his father have the same name (my husband is a “second”), and the mortgage company asked them to write a letter stating their relationship. Lol! I thought that was so weird, I mean, they have different social security numbers, addresses, credit histories, etc…

Erin, I think I would have done the same thing as you and I’m sure the clerk would have just start at me blankly. Now I know not to make that mistake!
Haha, Mrs. Spring, my Fiance has the same name as his dad too (he’s not a second though, they have different middle names) and when I’m telling stories I have to day Mr. XX for my Father-In-Law and MY XX for Fiance. HOW CONFUSING!!
