i got one…

when FH proposed, all i could do was cry and cry. i hugged him and told him i loved him and he slipped the ring on my finger. we went to dinner right after and then back to our hotel room. (we were on vaca for my bday) it wasn’t until the next morning when we got up in bed and FH tapped me and said, "you know, you didn’t actually say yes!"  um… OOPS! i quickly turned around and said "yes" nearly a million times!

I love them too! My Fiance almost forgot to ask me. He says after I opened the ring box he just kinda blanked out and stared for a second. Then he said, "oh right!" And got down on one knee to ask me. :o)

The best story I’ve heard though is from a friend. Her Fiance was in the military and I believe he was on R and R (2 week leave during deployment) and they were in Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA (some city on a river in the south!!) and he was acting all nervous. She thought it was coming and he got down on one knee and started to dig through his coat pockets (to get the ring box). My friend started jumping up and down and was all excited. The guy finally located the box but in his nervousness it slips out of his hands and into the river (they were standing next to the railing for all this). My friend FREAKS and is leaning over the edge and yelling about awful luck and should they go in after it. She turns to look at her guy and he’s still down on one knee but this time laughing with tears running down his face. He had another box (this time the actual one with the ring) in his hand and had TOTALLY fooled her by tossing a spare/decoy box into the river. She said she was ready to smack him and kiss him at the same time. πŸ™‚

That is a HILARIOUS story!!

Well, my funny story is more about what happened after.. he was going to propose after the half marathon we had been training for, but couldn’t wait and did it two days before (i had no idea it was coming and was super excited!). then on the day of the half marathon it was raining and we were high on life from being newly engaged… we started the run and 5 minutes later I went FLYING! I had stepped into a pothole. very embarrassing.. I had to be taken away in an ambulance!!!!! What a way to spend out first days engaged….

My fiance called my father for his "permission."  He had wanted to ask him in person, but we live in a different state and he never got the opportunity and didn’t want to wait any longer.  My fiance went through his entire speech about how he loved me and would take care of me, etc. etc.  He was apparently really nervous making the call and was trying to say everything he planned on saying, but was doing it quickly because of hisnerves.  So after talking for about 2 minutes, my dad said "I’m really sorry, but we have a bad cell connection, can you say that again??"

he had to go over it again and to this day, we are not quite sure if my dad really did hear him the first time or if he was just messing with him!

@RIBride, that is super funny πŸ™‚

My story is that Mr Corn proposed at our home, prior to my moving in (I wouldn’t move in until we were engaged).  We were eating dinner and he said he had gotten me a house warming present and even though I had been expecting a proposal, and even though he had bought my favorite wine and we had prepared a steak dinner…I was just tipsy enough to think he had gotten me drawer organizers…which would have been much less expensive of a house warming gift, but no where near as awesome!!

We were in Amsterdam on a rainy day.  We had just come out of a coffee shop, so we weren’t entirely sober!  After wandering the streets in the rain for a little while, I asked him where we were going.  He didn’t know, either, and in a moment of confusion, we bumped into each other.

"Where do you want to go?" he asked.  "I dunno," I said.  Then he pulled me to the side, under an awning and out of the rain, and said, "I will always go wherever you want to go…" and made a short speech about how much he loves me and wants to make me happy.  Then he asked me to marry him  .

I said yes.

Later I asked him if he had been planning that.  He said no; it was all out of the blue.

We were at his co-workers apartment on New Years two years ago. I’m exhausted, I want to go home, and it’s snowing like crazy outside. He starts this whole rant about how he’s always watched the ball drop, blah blah blah, so we stay. Anyway, he’s so nervous he drinks a little more than he planned. As the ball drops he gets ready, we count down, he kisses me and get down on one knee. Apparently, he had planned this whole speech, but he forgot what he was going to say.
I started freaking out, yelling "are you kidding me?" over and over and over, until he finally has to give me the ring to make me stop freaking out!

It was very funny for all his coworkers that were watching!

Then, we had to drive through 6 inches of snow- I got stuck at his parents house and ended up sleeping on their couch that night πŸ™‚

I haven’t shared this story with anyone else, since it is a little embarrassing, but thought I might as well share πŸ™‚

We took a little mini vacation last summer over the 4th of July weekend, we had hotel reservations at the beach and were planning on watching the fireworks and just basically hanging out. We got there, checked in, checked out our room, and then decided to go to dinner. We ate a nice seafood restaurant, right in front of the window facing the ocean, they set off fireworks from a barge, so we got to see the fireworks from our table, it was beautiful and you would think the "perfect moment" but no,………

Fireworks finished and we walked around a bit and then went back to our room. I was digging in my suitcase for my pjs and had taken off my shirt AND my bra and am standing there half naked, I asked him if he enjoyed dinner and he said "well, it wasn’t what I wanted it to be", I was still digging around in my suitcase and said "what do you mean" and continued to dig in the darn suitcase. Silence…….So I turn to look at him, STILL half naked and he has a box in his hand……..I started crying and babbling incoherently, still naked. He had evidently planned on doing it during dinner, but since there were fireworks and tons of people and no parking we had parked the car a long way off and walked and he left the ring in the car. He couldn’t figure out a way to get back to the car to get the ring without me asking a million questions, so he waited……..He says the half naked part was not intentional on his end and that he was nervous…..but you have to wonder πŸ™‚

Not exactly a story that we can share with our grandchildren now is it??? But I still love him and am glad that I have a memorable proposal, if not the most romantic πŸ™‚

The proposal wasn’t the funny part, it was before and after. That day, we were attending the wedding of one of my friends. We had just gone into escrow on a home together and my Fiance was planning on waiting until our first night in the house to propose, but he got too anxious. He decided we could stop by after the wedding as it was nearby and “check it out” again. We decided to get dressed at my mom’s house because it was closer to the wedding than our apartment. When we got there, he realized he left all our hanging clothes (his suit, my dress) at our apartment (30 minutes away). He had to drive all the way back to get them. Then, at the wedding, I was alergic to something in the food and had a mild rash on my chest and armpits. It was uncomfortable, but I have sensitive skin, so didn’t think anything of it. After the weddding, he proposed in our new house and it was lovely. We went out to dinner at the restaurant where we worked together and met and stayed at a fancy hotel. Everything was perfect from the champagne to the rose petals…

I woke up at about 2am from a dream where I was tangled in a huge white wedding dress covered in HIVES. I was sooooo itchy I couldn’t keep still and my whole body was a bright red raised mess. We had the concierge bring us benedryl, but it did nothing except give me a bit of sleep. At about 7am, we went to the ER and spent our first day as an engaged couple with me out of it from drugs in a hospital bed and him holding my hand and waiting.

Definitely made for a great story!

Two funny things:

My fiancee phoned my dad to ask for his blessing to propose but my Dad was out for a meal so had been drinking quite a bit.

Fiancee’s words were “I have a ring and I am just gonna come right out and say it. I love her etc etc and I want to be traditional and ask for your blessing before I pop the question”. My dad in his drunken state interpreted this completely wrong and went and told the table of people, including my mother, “Jason just called and said he loves Jasmine and he is going to look after her but don’t worry they won’t be getting engaged until after graduation!” Imagine mums shock when we got engaged the next evening.

Also, when he actually proposed, I had a throat bug so was experimenting with how low I could make my voice go and turned around to proudly perform to him my man voice only to find him on one knee with a ring, laughing.

Best proposal I could ask for πŸ™‚

Mine was a couple weeks ago. Let me set the scene for you, I had off work on a thursday and wednesday night I was stung by a wasp, I knew I was allergic to bees but I’m now aware I’m also allergic to wasps haha the sting site swells dramatically and I didn’t have an epipen so thirsday I took a lot of benadryl trying to get the itchiness to go away. I had a feeling the proposal was coming but figured it was coming for my birthday in october. I work with my best friend at the local bank and was going to text her telling her I had a feeling it was coming for my bday but realized it was time for her to balance her drawer and didn’t want to distract her. Well the benadryl knocked me out and I slept until my fiance came home. He drives a mack truck so it wakes me up when he pulls in the driveway. So I’m half asleep, sweatpants on, arm all red puffy and itchy and he’s kneeling beside the bed with his head resting on my stomach while I stroke his hair and he tells me about his day. All of a sudden he lifts his head up and goes hey I have two questions for you and I said ok. He goes do you love me? I said yes and he goes will you marry me? I said yes and then sat thete staring at him for a second like did that just happen or is the benadryl playing with my head now and then he got this big cheesy grin on his face a nd knew that just happened.

He went into the bank earlier that day and withdrew a bunch on cash with my best friend so he could go buy me a ring that day do he could propose the next week for his birthday and I would nt be able to see it in his account history on his debit or credit card. So my bff knew it was coming. He found out first hand how hard it is to find my size ring that doesn’t neef to be sized (aka the children’s section) and decided he couldn’t wait to do it til after a sized ring would come in so he did it without a ring and me looking like a mess and every one knew it was coming (including my family and co workers) except me
