Some of these are hilarious!!  I had a friend tell me it was her “birthday week”, and consequently didn’t come… her birthday was 5 days before!  Actually, I went to a wedding on my birthday once and loved it, so much cake hehe 😉

1. Not funny but sort of: the Zika crisis

2. Sort of funny but not: 2nd level cousin is going to start getting pregnant exactly 9 months before our chosen date because the star sign of that month is what she wants to claim for her future child. Btw, she told us this about 13 months prior to our wedding date that we absolutely refuse to change.

Our wedding is on a Sunday. My Future Mother-In-Law wanted us to change it because she didn’t want her kids (FI younger siblings) missing any school. They live 6 hours away so I pointed out that if it was on a Saturday they would still need to be here by Friday and would miss that day of school then anyways. She still wasn’t happy about it, but we saved a good chunk of money by having it on a sunday, and all other family is fine with the date so oh well.

I also had a girl who I used to be friends with, have not seen her in over 5 years, ask me over Facebook why I’m getting married on her birthday lol.

Future Mother-In-Law (at the time) wanted us to move our date so she could visit family in Europe. She went on a 4 month vacation to Europe EVERY year, rarely at the same time so there was no tradition to get in the way or anything. We all went together the year before. I wasn’t changing my date because we’d decided on it a year prior and suddenly that’s when she wantaed to go. i told her to have a good time. She didn’t end up going, obviously. She was just one of those people who needed to make everything about her, regardless of what it was. I was the only one in the family who didn’t enable her.

People were surprisingly chill, even though, in retrospect they shouldn’t have been. We got married a week after one of DH’s groomsmans, 2 days before my sister’s anniversary, and 2 weeks into the school year for the 3 teachers and 2 students in our immediate family. Someone should have said something when we asked if that date worked! Haha.

The only date demand came from one of my bridesmaids who announced she was pregnant when we got engaged, so she said I “could not” have the wedding within 6 weeks either side of her due date. She was like “I will be at your wedding, and I can’t in that 3 month window, so work around it.”
