It seems like there are a lot of threads on here involving people saying rude things about Bees’ rings, and Bees being none too happy about it (understandably). But I’ve had a few comments that I found really funny. They didn’t bother me at all and made me laugh. So Bees, share me your stories of funny things people have said about your rings.
Here are mine (for context, I have a sapphire halo):
Fiance was looking at the pave around my halo, and with a puzzled look said “I don’t understand what’s going on here.”
Guy at a party: “Dude, it looks like the Heart of the Ocean.”

When a guy friend saw my ring, he asked me what time the skating rink opens so he can skate on the ice.
ROTFL. It’s funny cuz my ring isn’t even big!

I love this thread already! lol

I had one of my married guy friends make a face when I told my my fiancé bought my ring online. Umm, ok, what’s wrong with that!?
So not a funny comment, but the rest have all been nice.

my old ring .55ct princess was getting the comment “cute” so hubby upgraded to a 1ct for our anniversary

I’ve had multiple people call my ring a weapon because I always end up scratching people with it (apparently I’m completely clumsy) lol.
I told a girl on campus that the “diamond” in my ring was actually mossanite and she got confused and said “so you have an asteroid strapped to your finger?”

” I could dance under this” … I guess because it is sparkly? not sure.. I smiled

Sadly, only meaner comments that maybe are supposed to be funny have been said. The worst has been, “Let me see that rock!” … she looked … “It’s more like a pebble.”

“That looks so big on your tiny little hands”

When I had a pink sapphire someone said “Did you mean for it to be pink?”
Um… yes? I think they meant did I pick it out, but it was still odd.

@KatyElle: You should acted all shocked to discover it was pink, totally how I would have handled it. Like, “OMG, are you serious?! *turn ring towards self* you’re right, it IS pink! I am SO glad you let me know, I’m going to go call the jewelry store right now.”

My friend saw it when I posted a pic on my facebook (as my way of announcing to everyone we just got engaged) and commented: “It’s bigger than the rings the girls get on The Bachelor!!”
Not exactly true, but made me laugh.

@BetterSherm: That’s awful. People are ridiculous. This is the kind of thing that makes me feel compelled to say something about the weight they’ve been trying to lose (but haven’t) or something similar. I think any mention of size opens the door for all sorts of size discussion. 🙂

The responses I’ve received from almost everyone is:
“Can I see it?”
They look at the ring, pause awkwardly, look at me like something is wrong then say, “Oh” or “Eh.” Then look at me again awkwardly and usually change the conversation once the silence gets too painful.
…yeah. In my head I pretend like they say that it’s pretty or so unique. 🙂 It’s not round, it’s not a solitaire, it’s not a single shank, it’s not white, I shopped for it with my SO, and it’s larger than their rings – I honestly don’t think they can deal with the all the differences. One day, maybe I’ll have the guts to say, “Thanks! It’s gorgeous right?!” after they look at me awkwardly. 🙂

@claireos: can you post a pic? I like that everyone can pick what they want now a days!
