@mimi123:  Whoever said that to you is CRAZY or seriously jealous. Your ring is AMAZING… and even more special because of where it came from.

@fleetian4life:  Aw thank you! Yeah that jeweler in particular was super rude, but I wasn’t that surprised by it. My ring is teeny tiny, the diamonds aren’t great… but hey, it’s an antique and it’s what I wanted! 🙂

I am LOLing a lot from your teaching anecdotes! Adorable! I taught high school this year and no one ever asked me about my ring. A couple of times I thought some girls were going to, but I mean, I’m 23 and I look young, they probably think I’m too young to get married and didn’t want to risk offending me or weirding me out, lol.

@GFerg:  Thank you! That’s how I feel about it! It makes you feel especially welcome in joining the family!

@fleetian4life:  Thanks!! I think you got her nailed down right there. After she made that comment I never thought of her quite the same.

I had one girl take my hand and pet my ring, which was VERY strange. Another girl once commented on how much it sparkled, and then proceed to stare at it for an awkward length of time. And a friend of a friend once told me my ring was “cute” – not a term I would use to describe a ring but whatever!

I guess I’m one of the few women who don’t mind when people call my ring cute. It has bows on the arches, so cute is definitely what I’m aiming for!

I once had some random girl that I go to school with ask me if she could try on my ring.

Um, nope.

@mimi123:  Oh my goodness, your ring is amazing!

@fleetian4life:  The bun in the oven comment killed me! I had to wipe my drink off my monitor. Full of class, that’s me!

I get stunned silence for the most part. Or ‘Um, that’s unique’. My favs? ‘Oh, that’s special’ and ‘Does he know he bought you a wedding band?’ Some people’s kids!

@MUAbride2be:  I think the most annoying comment I ever got was one ‘friend’ saying, upon seeing the ring we designed, “Oh wow, I would never want one like that.” I was like ………

The weirdest thing that happens when people see my ring, is that they say absolutely NOTHING!!! Its like they look at it, then look at me. Thats it!! I really dont understand. It makes things so awkward, so I usually just end the silience and say “I love it, he did an awesome job”. Here is my ring. a D VS2 1.62 oval.

Most of the comments i get are about how different or unique it is because of it being kite set but i had a horrible one come from none other than my own mom. We had just gotten done with some shopping & were standing outside the store talking & she grabbed my hand & asked me if the center was real & the setting was fake because “there’s no way he could afford that with his job”…da fuq?! I mean coming from a friend or co-worker would have made it a little easier but my own mom! Oh…to top it off when we told her we were getting married she said “i’ll believe it when i see it happen”…um…just because we’ve been together for 5 years doesn’t mean we aren’t ever getting married. Anyway here’s my sparkly for reference.
