Our first stipulation for our venue was if they allowed dogs (we have two german shepards), most said that they could only be there for 15 minutes. The venue we chose is a public golf course tucked into a retirement community and the retirees often walk their dogs through the course. As long as they are on a leash they can stay was long as we want, perfect! Contract signed. We will take them for walks around the venue a couple months prior to the wedding so they can get used to it, it has a large lake with ducks- dogs will love that! They weren’t super excited to wear party hats at midnight on New Years.

Thanks for the link! There are a few on Etsy that aren’t too badly priced as well.

One of my MIL’s friends offered to pick the boys up from our house and bring them to ceremony area early (for a sniff and toilet break and to calm down too). My two teenage cousins were our ushers and they walked the boys down the ailse and then handed them back to our family friend (who was sitting up the back of the ceremony). It all worked out SO well and I still can’t believe how well behaved our boys were – our Goldie can be a little boisterous and our JRT just won’t sit still unless he’s on someone’s lap. After the wedding we gave our family friend a nice bottle of wine as a thank you.
My advise would be to have someone who’s not oficially invited to the wedding handle your boy after his walk down the ailse / have one of your guest’s take him to the back of the ceremony, as the last thing you want is a wiggling dog around making you giggle while you’re trying to say your vows.

They sure are the best – he’s my spoiled old pound puppy! Best rescue dog ever!

We always knew our pup had to be in our wedding and actually played into us picking our venue. We don’t have children but we spoil her and treat her as our child lol. She’s a pug/shihtzu and will be one of our flower girls. She will be wearing a little dress my mom is making. After we get some picture with her she will be put in my moms hotel room for the night.

Longtimewait21: we had our dog in our wedding too! He had an ivory bow tie that matched my husband’s. Our venue was strict that we couldn’t have dogs but after a little begging they finally gave in. It wouldn’t have been the same without him.

Our Pomeranian will be our ring bearer and i found a beautiful white dress at petsmart she will be wearing. She’s great off leash and will walk straight to us if she’s placed at the beginning of the aisle. Our venue is allowing her for the ceremony which is outdoors but not the reception which is fine. One of her grannies or someone in the wedding party will take her home lol. I cant wait to have my little princess be with us on our special day!

We’re having a winter evening wedding in a church so our furbaby is not allowed, but we will be getting our pictures with her before the ceremony! There’s no way we couldn’t! 🙂
