We dealt with a lot of the same stuff when we first got engaged — did you check out my young-ish bride posts? Good luck and stay strong. Hugs!

you will never make everyone happy – its just never going to happen.  act smart and plan/behave wisely will go a long way in showing your FI’s that you are mature enough for marriage with a plan for your future together

as far as culture goes – i know my Mother-In-Law would have liked for her son to marry a good greek girl but it never happened, but learning enough greek so i can pass a conversation with her had given her bragging rights with her friends and it showed my respect to my husbands parents. maybe you would like to incorporate some vietnamese culture in your plans?

goodluck and congrats

That is always a sticky situation. If you got your stuff under control then do what you wanna do. Remember its not your parents life..its yours– yay! take it from someone whos learning all of these lessons 🙂  I know a couple who got married at a young age bc she got pregnant. Its been 4 years and her parents still dont accept it. SHe is successful as is he. parents can be haters..when they think its not the best choice.
