My Fiance and I recently swapped out my old ering for a beautiful new ring. The center stone is GIA certified 1.51 carat, G color, VS2 clarity, triple excellent cut. In most lights it looks pure white, even when viewed from the side, and sparkles like crazy! However, under some of the yellowish lights in my office building it looks a little yellow – see the bottom pic. Is this normal for a G colored diamond?

I don’t know what’s normal, but mine does something similar. I have an H color, and while it normally looks clear and white, under certain (especially office) lights it can look yellowish or even gray. And I can’t get a good photo of it, ever!

diamonds reflect whats around them. Yellow light = yellow diamond. I wouldnt worry about it if its GIA!

Yellowish office lights are the worst. Even colorless diamonds can look wonky in certain lighting. Don’t worry about it and enjoy your ring!

I have an G rated diamond that often looks really yellow to me, and I don’t think I’m especially color sensitive. My ring is set in unplated white gold, which has a yellow cast. I think some diamonds pick up more color than others?
