is there any local gardens? or gazeboos? lots of parks let you rent them for very minimal fees- also if you need an officant you can always call on the mayor of the town- they are usually allowed to marry,

If you are interested in having a Christian ceremony, you could find a pastor to officiate you at a different location, like a park as shalynnmarie suggested. If you don’t want a religious ceremony, you could get a secular officiant to do it, as well.

Is it possible to get married at your reception site?  It will save you $$ for the ceremony site as well…

Have you already booked the reception hall or any vendors?  If not, consider moving your date. Many brides don’t set a date until they have a ceremony/reception site booked.

If you’re not dead set on getting married in a chapel, look at hotels, parks, country clubs, and museums.  I found a huge list here:

Another idea is to look a little away from Lafayette.  Perhaps a neighbooring town has a nice chapel?  We’re getting married 1 hr away from where we live because that’s where we found a venue we liked.

Good luck!

@Kym080412:  We are getting married at our ceremony site as well, and we plan to host cocktail hour while we get our photos so the guests can make their way to their tables, grab a nibble, and get a drink.  This will give them time to mingle a little bit, get settled in, and enjoy a drink while we wrap it up then we can have our entrance & continue on with the reception festivities.  Could you do something like that?

@Kym080412:  Well poop 🙁  We are getting married outside at a garden with a pond (it’s a country club) so the guests can move from the outside ceremony to the indoor reception for cocktail hour.  Hmmm… maybe you could ask the hotel event coordinator if she knows of a nearby place or a secluded garden area at the hotel for pics?  Or, a lot of Bees are doing “first look” photos, would your Fiance be open to something like that?
