Last month, I had to reschedule my fitting because of work. From then, I decided to get in gear and lose weight.. Needless to say, that never happened! I think I have actually gained weight from stress eating and little exercise. I am so nervous about my dress not fiftting, that I think I want to cancel it again and try to lose weight like crazy! My wedding is May 27, so I think I still have an extra week or two before I have to get fitted.
If I do go to my fitting, can I have them focus on the length and not do anything to the waist area until the next fitting?! I just dont want to pay them a bunch now to do alternations and even more the next time around.Even if I put it off a week to try to drop a few pounds, I plan to keep losing until the next fitting, so do I just suck it up (and IN!) and go now anyway?
What do you think? I need advice!

Normally the length is the last thing they alter, so to speak, first alterations at the waist. But that`s only my experience. My first fitting will be 6 weeks before the wedding, the waist will be taken in (hopefully I don’t gain that weight I already lost;-), and my seamstress said that approx. two or three weeks later the length will be altered. Everything else has to be fitted before the lenght. Perhaps you can ask what is the latest they can do the alterations?

My first fitting was also 6 weeks before the wedding. I needed to lose about an inch to fit into my dress. I did zumba twice a week and did South Beach for a month. I lost 15lbs and a little more than an inch. I’m not doing SB as hard core as I was, but I definitely changed my eating habits because of it.

Thank you for the advice. By some miracle, my appointment time was mixed up and so it got rescheduled to next Thursday! I have been running like crazy and eating really well. I also signed up for a 4 week “bootcamp” for women to help me get rid of these unwanted pounds!
