Oh no! Will wearing a corset help?

Take a deep breath. This exact thing happened to me at my prom and I thought I was going to lose it (and prom isn’t nearly as big as a wedding, so I can only imagine.)

First, let it all out, cry, scream- be upset. Then take a deep breath, and don’t let it get to you. Start eating a bit better, cut out extra salt, and increase your water intake. And don’t get too wrapped up, you are not the first or the only bride to go to an alterations lady with a dress that won’t zip up.

Plus there’s always a few cms in the seams so you should be able to let it out

@jennifer89:  try adding in yogurt, or things that are high in fibre.

dont starve yourself, beause you can gain weight from that. Try to do things that are easy- like add in a 15 minute walk at lunch or after work, carry a water bottle everywhere you go. If you go anywhere for a thanksgiving dinner, eat something small about an hour and a half before you go (like a granola bar or something) so you’re not starving when its diner time. Try to eat slow. Let your body take its time to digest its food, and let you know when you’re full.

Dont drink alcohol, it’s is empty calories. Cut out pop. These are all easy things you can do. Losing a few pounds isn’t a lifestyle overhaul, just a life style adjustment. Being smarter with your food, and adding in easy exercise will help you out.

Oh no! How close is it to zipping? You can definitely lose 5lbs easily if you avoid alcohol, sodium-heavy foods (like chinese food and soup), and avoid bread. Drink only water or unsweetened tea.

The MyFitnessPal app is great for tracking calories, esp if you don’t have time to exercise. As for Thanksgiving/Holiday foods this is what my nutritionist tells me:

Drink lots of ice water so you aren’t as hungry, eat your meat & veggies first, and don’t allow more than one carby side per meal. Beware anything in sauce. If you can, eat a salad for one of your daily meals (lunch or dinner). And if you’re a snack/dessert fiend like me… choose items that take longer to eat for how many calories they are. Popcorn, chocolate chips, or frozen grapes are 3 of my favs.

You can do it! Rooting for you 🙂

I would diet and drink lots of water, eat plenty of veggies and some lean protein. Worst case scenario I hear if you do a body wrap a few days before your wedding it instantly takes off inches but it definitely comes back later.

Diet now, and buy in a steel boned corset to see if you can reduce your waist by a few inches using that. You should be able to drop 4 inches in comfort, or so I’m told (I have one, but haven’t tried it on yet because I need someone to lace me and I don’t want Fiance to see the dress).

Even if you get it to fit using a corset, a sensible pre-wedding diet couldn’t hurt, right? It will make your skin glow etc etc. Try the MyFitnessPal ap for your phone.

Don’t panic. You can cut out carbs and salt to help with bloating. Can you wear spanx?

Eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies, and drink lots of water. The extra fiber and water will help food digest without getting transferred to permanent energy. Stay away from meats and carbs (eat in small amounts every day) but don’t starve yourself!!! Snack on veggies all the time and you’ll have more willpower to resist bummer foods.

Also brisk walking for 20 min a day can really help.

Hard mode: cut out carbs and/or meat and/or dairy from your diet but eat up on those veggies!! Don’t over-do it. Know your limits and make gradual transtions (maybe be vegan ever other day). You can also increase amount of physical expenditure but again, know your limits!!! Too much stress can easily undo all that you work for.

Worst case senario can you add a lace-up back to the dress?

Try to do as much cardio as you can–whether its walking or just a 20 min jog everyday to tone.  Also the best way to lose weight is to healthy and eat frequently.  Since your deadline is just 3 weeks, I would just eat small meals/snacks 5x a day.  Start out with 3 boiled eggs in the morning, then a serving of a small salad for lunch, grilled fish midday, and a small dinner or so.  It speeds up your metabolism 🙂

I’m a bigger girl and have had this happen. Here is what I’ve done for a few weeks & it has always worked for me:

1. Cut carbs drastically, including fruit (40-50 grams a day & just short term)

2. Limit sodium intake

3. Cut out all beverages except for water

4. Drink plenty of water (approx. half your body weight in ounces is the formula I use)

5. Exercise

Of course, a girdle never hurts, either! Best wishes to you, dear! I know how terribly stressful this can be!!

Oh no! Every (normal) woman has had the unfortunate experience of gaining a few pounds. You aren’t alone!

First! My suggestion is to find a corset/spanx/girdle, whatever you feel most comfortable in, ASAP! If you can try it on afterwards with your dress, do it, just to see the difference it makes! I am sure that would be a huge relief.

Second! Now that you feel a little less pressure, take some of the Bees that replied up on their helpful suggestions about ways to eat healthy and exercise to lose a few pounds. One suggestion- for Thanksgiving, plan AHEAD of time what you are going to eat. Don’t go back for seconds, unless it is fruit or veggies, and take a walk right after the meal!

Good luck- you can do it!

@jennifer89:  Can I see a pic of the dress? You sure a corset back is out of the question?
