I posted awhile ago about these gallon glass jars that I had given to me (can’t beat free)! My theme is vintage inspired and the inside decorations will be a lot of vintage glass bottles with single real flowers in them. I made some ivory pomanders for outside to hang on some hooks, and I’m thinking of using these gallon jars as luminaries to line the walkway into the venue. We’re getting married outside on a patio at a country club, followed by an indoor reception. The walkway to the deck winds and curves and I thought it would be neat to line the walkway.
Our colors are navy blue and ivory with gold accents. The first picture is what I have decided for the luminaries with pillar candles (alternating the two designs). The first has small brown pebbles in it and the other has thick pieces of gold sand. Each one will have a 1-3 “wood” flowers placed in the bottom.
I would like to use a luminary with a floating candle in between each of the pillar luminaries (pebble luminary, floating candle luminary, gold sand luminary, floating candle luminary, pebble luminary….and so on). I’m having a hard time finding something that hangs in the water and looks good. Any advice? Do I have enough going on in the pillar luminaries that I could just put a floating candle in the other ones and not have anything else in the water? We tried dying the water as well and that didn’t turn out well at all. Or do you think I should just stick with the pillars and alternate the two designs above and NOT use any floating candles?
Also, I have 50 of these available to use. How far apart would you space them down the walkway? I don’t want it to be too much. In the photos, there are some to the front and some to the back – I will be using them completely lined up straight with the edge of the walkway (not forward and back, as pictured).
Thoughts? Ideas? Advice?
