I myself am 6’1. I’m wondering how I’ll look pregnant. I’ve seen lots of cute baby bumps on the bee, but I get nervous when I think about buying maternity clothes or being able to see my bump–some say that babies can hide themselves better in us tal gals’ longer torsos, and I’ve heard nothing but horror stories about finding “tall people” maternity wear! What was your experience, and if you have a picture of your tall self with your bump, please share!

I’m just shy of 6′ and I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant. I had a bit of a pooch pre-pregnancy and I honestly feel like I still just look fat instead of pregnant, though other people are starting to comment about noticing my bump so who knows!
Excuse the awful photo, but this is my bump at 16 weeks. I’m hoping it will become a bit more obvious soon!

ETA: I haven’t done a ton of maternity shopping so far but I’ve been happy with the Gap maternity jeans because they come in longs. I’m all legs so regular pants are pretty much impossible for me.

@iheartnerds: you look great, and I’m sad to say I look more preggo than you and I’m not even pg yet!!! And I definitely do not think you look fat. I also LOVE Gap! They are the only place that has long enough jeans for me—I guess I didnt even know they had maternity, so I will definitely remember that!!!

I am not over 6 feet tall. I’m only 5’8″, but I have an extremely long torso. I often have to buy tops and dresses for tall people because of my torso. My baby has hidden fairly well, but I’m definitely clearly pregnant now that I’m so far along (35 weeks). I carry narrow because the baby has so much room in my torso. My best friend is average height and a month behind me; she started showing way before me and even now looks more pregnant than I do.
As for clothing, I’ve been jsut fine for the first time in my life with tops since they are all so long in order to cover the growing belly. Everything is like tunic length. I love it. Some dresses are long enough; some aren’t. I’ve definitely tried on dresses that are a wardrobe malunction waiting to happen.
On pants, I can’t offer much help since my legs are just short of normal length, but I can tell you that I’ve seen plenty of long work pants in Motherhood maternity and at Gap. Just beware of the underbelly banded jeans at Gap. They are amazing in trimesters 1 and 2, but once your belly does develop, they will not stay up.

@Wed2Attn: Not every Gap has a maternity section, so just check their store locator online. I had to drive about an hour away to try on jeans at a Gap that has maternity.
@mrsSonthebeach: I have a pair with the underbelly panel and a pair with the full panel. As of now (second trimester), the underbelly panel works well but the full panel won’t stay up at all! Hoping it works better when I have a bigger bump.

@Wed2Attn: I’m not over 6′, but I’m 5’10” so pretty tall. It took until about 24 weeks for my bump to really look like a baby bump rather than just pudge, but I’m 30 weeks now and it’s VERY obvious. I don’t think you’ll have a problem showing, it just may not be until well into your 2nd trimester. As for maternity clothes, I still get away with wearing some of my non-maternity tops. Open front long cardigans will be your friend ๐

@iheartnerds: One day, it’ll completely flip. I used to find my full panel jeans really uncomfy and would only wear the under belly ones… and now it’s the opposite.
re:Gap, usually I find maternity in the back of a Baby Gap, not in a normal Gap store.

I’m only 5’8″ but I have long legs. I found websites like http://www.mommylonglegs.com to be godsends.

@Wed2Attn: Great question! I’ve wondered this myself as I’m the tallest of all my friends and I have no idea what it will look like!

@mrsSonthebeach: I have a really long torso, well, torso, legs, everything….I’m just lanky! Your post actually made me excited about maternity tops–with ALL other shirts, my rear is usually hanging out or I look like someone who ate a little too much at the All-You-Can-Eat Buffet with the muffin top poping out!
@cerenatee: @araneidae: Thanks a bunch!!!
@AstoriaK: I’m the same way–I already know what I’ll look like with little kids running around me–that’s what I look like now with all my 5′ friends–I want to know what I’ll look like pregnant!!! :o)
@hergreenapples: You look GREAT! And yes, I agree–you definitely popped wk 21! Your outfits are super cute!

I am almost 15 weeks (on Monday) and the only thing I bought so far are some Paige Premium denim maternity jeans (the westbourne, I believe). I always buy designer jeans because I need a 36 length!!! What I do have are huge breasts- always have- we are talking 34H prepregnancy… so yeah. I hope tops will be long enough to cover my boobs and my baby bump. So far my boobs are bigger than my baby bump! AHH!

@iheartnerds: I found that to get the full panel to stay up I have to put my Bella Band over top. Kind of a pain, but it works like a charm!
@Wed2Attn: Thank you ๐ I definitely think being tall = not showing for awhile. It was nice at first when I was still trying to hide it, but it got kind of annoying when for several weeks I looked more fat than pregnant

@hergreenapples: You look great! I know what you mean, naked right now I look super pregnant, but in clothing I look like I went overboard on Christmas cake ๐ (Is Christmas cake a real thing?) ๐
