That’s all I can think of based on any time I’ve moved… crazy, messy and tiring!

We didn’t have to do any cleaning because we bought a brand new house.

Our first priority was getting our bed set up in the master bedroom – we definitely wanted to be able to sleep in our new house the first night.

Other than that, the first few days were just the craziness of hauling boxes, furniture, and appliances alongside unpacking and organizing your whole life in a new space.

Insanity, messiness, disorganized LOL – Moving sucks even if it is exciting to be moving into your first home!

Probably the same way we moved into our first apartment together. Before we really moved anything we got a 6-pack, ordered pizza and blew up an air mattress that way it was just the two of us, no distractions, just loving each other and being in our own place. We plan on doing the same thing right before we move out of our apartment.

Having done it? Sheer exhaustion and a gigantic mess.

We’re supposed to close on the home we built April 10. That day we plan on going and putting together our new stools so we can have our first meal (takeout) and I plan on secretly packing some champagne to celebrate with. I’m sure we’re likely “break in” the house, since he’s been trying to get me to every time we go visit.

Actual moving day will just be us two and the movers, a couple days later. I’m hoping for an easy move of watching the hired guys move heavy stuff while I have the fun of unpacking the kitchen and outside chairs. haha OH and setting up our masterbath. Those are the 3 areas I’m most excited about.

What I’m NOT looking forward to is cleaning out the old place once everythign is moved over. I can’t wait to move from this house.

The House – it’s more finished now…not sure how I don’t have a pic of that.

The kitchen…

Our view from the back before the grass was put in.

Absolutely NO party!  I don’t want a lot of people there.  I’m hoping my husband doesn’t mind getting a Uhaul and not having anyone help us because I’m going to be one picky witch about everything!

We had the sellers pay to have the place professionally cleaned before closing.

We also moved in a week after we closed because we wanted to paint four rooms. This extra time allowed us to gradually move some stuff over (clothes, kitchen stuff, etc) so it wasn’t as hectic on moving day. Basically all we moved on the actual moving day was furniture.

The first things we set up were the beds and put all kitchen stuff away. DirecTV also came out day so we had to have our TV and stuff all set up.

We had some family help us move so we ordered food and had water and beer for everyone.

All in all it wasn’t too bad.

@candy11:  The day I moved into my house, was the day Mr. 99 and I started dating, my sister had introduced us at a birthday party, I had mentioned in passing that I was moving the next month and he volunteered to help.   I had been living in a pretty small apartment before that, this house was triple the square footage, I remember looking in the sitting room…at every piece of furniture I owned, and the house seemed so….EMPTY.

We let the cat out of her carrier and she was cool as a cucumber, found a sunny spot and fell asleep.  He helped me set up my room, and the kitchen, and I remember kicking myself mentally for buying all this house just for me…what was I going to do with all of this space???

My parents were out of the country on vacation, I felt so alone and sad and I just needed…something, a sign…it had rained terribly the night before and the driveway was still wet and covered with worms…the man who would be my husband just 9 months from that day was out there brooming them back into the grass so they wouldn’t dry up on the pavement into crusty little question marks, and he came in with this old penny he’d found, “It was heads up, that’s good luck!”  he’d said…”Good things are comin your way gorgeous.”

I started crying, in a happy way, my grandma always said that about pennies, always gave them to me when I was little…she’d died when I was 12 and I’ve walked with an emotional limp from missing her so much….he wrapped me up in his big strong arms, told me I was too pretty to cry and asked if I wanted a root beer float, I accepted, of course….and we were never apart from that day to this….

so yeah…moving days have their upside…if you can get through the packing and craziness of it all first.

By the way, the penny is framed and sits over our door, a constant reminder of the good luck that brought us to each other…and root beer floats.

Hectic, but it will be better than other moves because it will be our place instead of a place we’re renting.  I know my family will help and Father-In-Law will likely come up and maybe a few others.  My parents will likely pay for takeout cuz they are like that and they did it for my sister.  My mom would help with cleaning, especially in the kitchen.  I’ll want to at least vacuum and carpets before we move in stuff.
