I was going to suggest Apples to Apples too.  It’s definitely one of my favorite games ever!

I second someone’s suggestion for Funemployed!  Played this one at a friend’s house and loved it, I like it because you get to be creative with it and make your own fun every time it’s your turn. 🙂

WesterosBarbie :  I’m not mjsoiree but I also play a ton of strategy games. I love both Pandemic and Catan. Pandemic is cooperative and usually takes ~45 minutes. Catan is competitive and if you’re playing the standard 4-player version, can take ~1.5 hours.

Look into the Jackbox Party Pack. You’ll need either an Xbox One, PS4 or Steam account. It comes with a bunch of games.

What’s really cool about these games is players use their smartphones and tablets as controllers. My favorites are Drawful (drawing) and Fibbage (trivia). It’s from the makers of the trvia game You Don’t Know Jack, so these aren’t kid games. Not raunchy necessarily, but it’s meant for adults. I’ve played many times with people I’d just met and it’s a great icebreaker. It’s the perfect party game.

I was going to say Cards Against Humanity but if you’re either not close to the people playing or not sure their tolerance for raunch and toilet humor thennnnn yeah. Save for later. It’s our group favorite but we are all super tight even with spouses.

For a little cleaner, I like Apples to Apples which I’ve seen suggested. We have a game called 5 Second Rule, which is more fun the more people you have. Player pulls a card, reads it to the person to their left, and the person has 5 seconds to answer it (and all the cards are things like, name 5 famous Michaels, name 5 teams in the NBA, etc). It continues around the circle…but it gets really funny when people try to make up answers. Which, they are allowed to do as long as they can pull it off. If they are questioned, and are exposed, they lose the point. If they are believable, it counts.

We also have a blast with Trivial Pursuit, and really any game that involves fibbing. I guess we’re terrible people…which explains the love for Cards Against Humanity, honestly. 3 expansion packs later… haha
