We’re not having dancing at our reception, but I want to have something to keep guests around.
the Fiance and I love games, but I don’t want our reception to be cheesy looking…so I want to find some games that look good, and are fun..that we can have placed around or we can pull out. Board games that look good (like those hasbro vintage box ones)
Any ideas? It will be indoor so no croquet unfortunately.
Or any other alternatives to dancing. I saw the other thread on this, and didn’t find any ideas I liked.

this post earlier today mentioned a few ideas:
i’d like to hear what you decide since we are having a non-dancing reception as well!

- Wedding: October 2010 - Kindred Oaks, Georgetown
Maybe Name that Tune or I just read on the boards today about a picture scavenger hunt from Martha Stewart. Kinda sounded like fun. If I might ask, why no dancing?

I was thinking about having board games at our welcome dinner/rehearsal dinner. My thought was to have a different game at each table, and guests can get up and join games that they enjoy and get to know the guests they don’t know. I was thinking games like scrabble, uno, scattergories, catch phrase, cranium, dominos(my grandparents love it), yahtzee, settlers of catan, regular playing cards for rummy or poker or whatever. Possibly monopoly, clue, life, and trivial pursuit- i’m on the fence about these games. I think this could work for a reception as well.

We’re having a board game themed wedding, so each table has a game on it. We’re also having a seperate table with smaller games, like a deck of cards, Scrabble Apple, etc. You might want to look for more vintage board games, or vintage looking games, I think Target sells “classic” looking versions of popular board games.

I posted a link within this link about a game we were gonna play during a happy hour reception (matching famous couples). Check out Martha Stewart site too, shes got great ideas in the INSPIRATION SECTION.
