After searching high and low for a wedding band to match my opal engagement ring, my fiancé and I have settled on this idea…
We like the symmetry of the two bands on each side of the engagment ring. There are rather large gaps between the rings, but I really like how unique it looks. I think it really hightlights the pear shape of the opal.
What do y’all think? Too large of gaps?
Any other ideas of what to do for a ring like this?
Also, I’m curious to see others’ ring sets that have a gap between them. Please share. 🙂

@nanty7891: I think it’s perfect!! Delicate, unique, looks custom. As long as it feels good on your finger it’ll be just lovely!

@Mommy2Boox2: Thanks! I really love it 🙂 I don’t have long fingers, but I can still bend them easily. I think I’ll definelty need to get them soldered to make it the most comfortable to wear. 🙂

If you like it, I think you should do it. 🙂 I personally wouldn’t want *that* large a gap between my band and e-ring.
(I LOVE your pear-shaped stone, though!!!)
If you’re looking for an alternative, you could try more of a contour band, or often you can get a band that is made to slide under your stone so that they sit flush.

Love love love that look on your ring!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very unique, lovely!! I’m a huge fan of gaps…large ones! 😉 I made sure my set had a gap because I find them vintage-looking. It separates your wedding band from your ring.
Here are my rings (I could even do like you and put two bands!):
Here’s my travelling white sapphire set…with gap of course!:
Here are pics I found online:

All I know is that that ring is to die for.

@rachelmichelle: I also like your suggestion of curved bands on either side. They would be customed-made though. Would look great!

I like it as long as you get them soldered so they sit straight.

I love the gap, but I would just do the band on the bottom that sits against the rounded side. I think since your ering isn’t symmetrical, the band that sits on the pointy side looks really weird.

Mine’s going to have a gap. I haven’t gotten my wedding band yet, but here’s a pic of what it will look like (I tried on my friend’s and it was so tiny I had to put them on my pinky!).

I think for me the gap is too large but it’s what you like! 🙂 here’s my gap, not too think but enough to show they are two separate rings 🙂
