I had a garden wedding under a tent.  I added NOTHING, except chairs.  There was existing ivy growing up the tent poles, and a water feature, and then the mountains in the background, so I just wanted it to speak for itself.

@bridewithbabies: It depends on how much is already at your ceremony site. Based on what you said, I would only add an arch or something to stand under during the ceremony. I’ve seen a ton of garden weddings where nothing or very little decor was added and the simplicity of everything is breathtaking.

Less is more when it comes to already-gorgeous outdoor venues. I kept coming up with ideas to decorate our outdoor space, and having to check myself because I acknowledged that my additions would just distract from the stunning natural beauty of the place. Save yourself the trouble and let your guests enjoy their surroundings.

We just had a wood and floral arch, bamboo chairs, some flowers on the backs of the back row of chairs on either side of the aisle, a wine barrel behind the arch to hold our Communion elements, and then at the reception we had a tent and our tables with their centerpieces and table runners.

We had our ceremony outside in a garden and then the reception in a tent. We added minimal extra decor for the ceremony. Just the chupah and some mason jars filled with flowers on shepards hooks scattered about.
