@Tbblount:  I don’t have one but the answer to your questions all depends on what you do….

I have the Garmin 210…. With the HRM Strap and footpod, And here’s why it was worth it to me:

-I use the watch/ HRM even if I’m not running.  I keep an eye on my heart rate so that I make sure it gets high enough (and on the flip side, so I make sure it doesn’t stay too high too long).   It’s a great indicator of “move faster/harder.”

– I like the footpod for cycling classes/ treadmill workouts, but I don’t find it necessary

Otherwise I feel most of the Garmin GPS watches do about the same thing. And even then, you only need a GPS watch if you workout mostly outdoors on runs/bike….

@Tbblount:  I don’t have that one but I do have the Tom Tom runner gps on my list as an upgrade from my nike+ one. As much as I use them the large display is great but I hate that some are so bulky for my wrists just make sure if you are picky he gets it from a place that let’s you return it if it’s opened. Nothing worse than logging a first run and wanting to tear a new watch off

@bklynbridetobe:  at the time i got it, it was the only water proof model so i could swim with it during triathlons and training.  if you only bike or run, or really not need something water proof, there are cheaper models that will do the same thing.
