@mra0328: I wore none! We didn’t do a garter toss.
People might want two in case the toss one doesn’t make it’s way back to them. Some people buy a nice one for pics and a cheap one to toss. You can do whatever you’d like IMO.

My mom only wore one. So when I showed her my selection, she was like, “why the hell do you need two?!” I explained to her that some people choose to keep one to use as an heirloom, and toss one. If my mother had kept one of hers I would have used it, and just got a cheap-o one for the toss. I’m getting two for heirloom purposes. But I think it’s a personal preference, do what you like!

I had two garters, and here’s why. My Mother-In-Law made my garter using material from my grandmother’s dress, and my mom’s dress. It’s something I want to keep and treasure. I bought a cheap, $3 garter that I slipped on right before the garter toss to be thrown away.
Here’s the garter my Mother-In-Law made for me.

I’m purchasing a set of two from Etsy– one to toss and one to keep. The “toss” garter is a slightly smaller, less ornate version of the “keep” garter. Sorry the pic is so huge, but the top one is the “keep” and the bottom is the “toss”

I had 2, but it came as a set when I ordered one. I wore both, one for the toss and one to play with later.
