Soonerbee07:  They are very easy to make yourself if you have even basic sewing skills.

Makin’ My Thigh Pretty

There are custom makers on Etsy. Do a search for plus size garters here on WeddingBee. You will see lots of recommendations.

A local seamstress can do this easily. Are you having any alterations done to your dress? Ask your seamstress.

Soonerbee07:  I am a plus size woman and I bought a standard garter and it did not fit. I found mygarter.com and they allow custom sizes. I didn’t have to go that route as I fit into their 28″-31″ category.  I ordered mine and the throw away garter. The prices are good and it fits perfectly!

I didn’t have any issues with a standard one fitting, but I didn’t want to bother with it all day. I just put it on after dinner (a bit before the removal). So if it isn’t comfty, I’d just do that.

I bought mine online and there were many sizes to choose from because it was a lace one. I didn’t leave it on all day though because I didn’t feel like dealing with it. I put it on as my wedding party did my bustle before the reception, so it was only on for an hour tops.

I ordered mine from Garters by Kristi on Etsy – you measure your thigh & she makes it to the size you would need without a big upcharge.  I LOVE my garter, it’s beautiful & I know it will fit!

I hated the feeling of them on my leg at all, so I put them further down, on my calf instead of thigh and it was much more comfortable! I got both of mine from Amazon.

Oh, and I have huge hips, my Darling Husband loves them calls them “Life giving hips!” It cracks me up!

Soonerbee07:  I got my garter from Etsy.  The shop I ordered from is no on vacation, but I looked at quite a few and they al had a drop down for sizes.  Not just S, M, L. XL but in inches.  Have a looksee!

I ordered one to keep and one to toss from Etsy— two different vendors. They custom-sized them for me. I put mine a little further up because we had a Mass and I was terrified that it would slide down with all the standing and kneeling. A little magic fabric tape did the trick 🙂

Soonerbee07:  I made my own and I love them! Sorry for the crappy pics 🙂
