Fiance and I will be getting married in September of 2014 and are trying to figure out potential honeymoon destinations. We’re both women, so we really need some place that is gay friendly (which has basically ruled out our top choice — Greece), not super beach-y (we’re both super pale and burn like crazy), and will have nice weather in early October. Any ideas, preferrably somewhere non-US?
We’ve both traveled pretty extensively and are having a hard time coming up with somewhere that fits our requirements that we haven’t already seen (we’ve both done a decent chunk of Western Europe and she’s done Eastern Europe, Japan, and China).
Currently at the top of the list (for her, anyway) is Argentina. I’m not quite sold — I’m not sure I think it’s romantic enough (not that I’m not a fan of hiking and nature and cities and stuff, but somewhere that has that stuff plus romance and relaxation would be perfect).
Anyway, any thoughts?

@hgwells: Have you been to Vancouver, BC Canada? We are very gay friendly (Pride Week is on now. We are execting a turnout of 600,000 people for the parade.)
Weather in early October is lovely fall weather. You could fly into Calgary, take te Rocky Mountaineer train to Vancouver, go up to Whistler, across to Vancouver Island- up to Long Beach, down to Victoria, back to Vancouver, then fly home.

@hgwells: My best friend and her beautiful Fiance are going to Australia. I think they are heading towards the Sydney opera house for a concert/show. I am not sure if they chose this locaton because of beauty or because of gay acceptance. I just know that I have never met a Australian that wasn’t all around laid back 🙂
then again all my australian friends are cure fans 😉

@hgwells: Rio de Janeiro? It has a beach, but it’s not by any means the only (or even main) attraction to the area.

Northern California. Sure its close to a bay but theres so much to do like the redwood forests. Also San Frqncisco is gay friendly!

@julies1949: +1 to this! I’ve never been but am DYING to go. If we weren’t looking for an all-inclusive honeymoon, this totally would have been my top choice.
