I’m loving that there are so many geeky brides out there like myself. So many great ideas. My fiance and I are getting married on Star Wars Day 2017. Yes, we picked it on purpose. We’re mostly planning to stick to a Han/Leia theme. We will probably use the Han and Leia POP! figures as cake toppers on a small cutting cake, and use DIY Han and Leia cupcake picks on our cupcakes for guests. We also plan on incorporating the “I love you. I know.” quotes into our decor and possibly our vows. I’m hoping to have the Star Wars soundtrack played while guests are getting settled in before the ceremony and to have Throne Room play after we are pronounced husband and wife. We are considering Millennium Falcon soaps as favors and using our Millennium Falcon bluetooth speaker along with Spotify during our cake and punch reception. I have other Star Wars ideas in mind, but we’ll see what we end up actually going with.

My tiny, secret lightning bolt earrings! I have two holes in each ear and these are going in my second ones alongside my regular wedding earrings. Fiance and I met in a college class about Harry Potter (we were randomly “sorted” into the same project group by pulling matching HP stickers out of the professor’s sorting hat), and the earrings are a surprise!

We had the Final Fantasy song that plays when you win a battle go off after we were declared husband and wife, and a bunch of Lord of the Rings songs played throughout the night.  I surprised DH with a triforce-shaped grooms cake and they played the Legend of Zelda theme while we cut it.  Oh and DH’s cufflinks, which were awesome:

We did! We had:

-a ceremony reading from Doctor Who

-vicar included our love of sci Fi in his address

– best man’s wife gifted the boys Star Wars pants to wear under their kilts

– our recessional was to the Throne Room from Star Wars episode IV (cut in at the soft bit so it wasn’t immediately obvious but we finished right as the main theme came back which was an incredible moment)

– table names were names of spaceships from films or tv shows and we ran a pub quiz with a prize for the first person to correctly name all of them

– Star Wars cake topper

Following! We just started planning, but have already agreed to have it be completely geeky from beginning to end. Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, various board and video games, other fantasy/sci-fi things we love are all going to be incorporated in some way… I’d really like to walk down the aisle to one of the iconic LotR compositions.  Also, I’m toying with the idea of doing a “how many geek references can you spot?” insert for our programs, since many of the invitees are similarly geeky.

We’re having a comic book wedding that incorporates our love of Funko Pop Vinyl figures 🙂

geekgirl1050:  Hmmm… You could incorporate the Vault Tec or Mojave Express logo into your signs or card box decorations? Maybe have guests put them in a pretty antique leather suitcase like the ones found throughout the game? Or if your wedding is a bit more ritzy, New Vegas has a bunch of really pretty casinos you could borrow some decoration ideas or logos from. The Sierra Madre is my personal favorite, but the Ultra Luxe Resort is fancy too. Otherwise, anything well worn from the early 50s would suit a fallout theme nicely.

Yeah, we’re having a lot of geeky touches. I actually even described my wedding to my DoC that way (“geek chic”).

-A lot of the music, especially for the pre-ceremony seating and the processional/recessional, is orchestral versions of various geeky themes (Elder Scrolls, Zelda, LotR, Star Trek- a little bit of everything).

-I’m having a Neil Gaiman reading during the ceremony

-My shoes are handpainted with the TARDIS and a space/clocks motif

-I’m having paper flowers, and some of them are made from book pages

-Our ring boxes say “I love you” and “I know”

-There’s an AT-AT with a top hat at the gift table

-Our centerpieces will have dice in the wedding colors (as glass filler), as well as little terrariums with references (there’s a BB-8 on Jakku, Quidditch players and a snitch, a Ms. Marvel figurine, etc).

-Each table will have a board game on it, chosen to be something the people at that table might like

-Our cake topper is figurines of Sorscha and Madmartigan from Willow. With a veil and top hat, respectively.

-Our venue won’t allow confetti or sparklers, so we are giving everyone glowing lightsabers to wave about as we leave (and to keep afterwards!)

I love all these details. 🙂 Everyone is so creative!

My husband didn’t like the idea of having a geek wedding, and I’m not much of a planner, so I was OK with it. I did sneak a sign into the venue that says, “No admittance except on party business” and hung it up on the door outside my getting ready room. Now it hangs out at my cubicle!
