themoonofhislife:  That all sounds so awesome!

We are doing a pretty heavily literary theme but with “other crap we like” sprinkled heavily throughout. Our recessional song will be the theme from Totoro. Our officiant will begin the ceremony with “Marriage. Marriage is what brings us together today. That blessed union. That dream within a dream” (From the Princess Bride. We debated having her use the voice but thought it would alienate people who haven’t seen the movie.)

We’re also having a geeky gaming table at the reception for the non-dancing folk and we’re inviting our closest people back for gamenight as the after party.

If you haven’t yet, you should check out OffBeat Bride. So many awesome geeky ideas and the community forum is full of amazing people.

themoonofhislife:  Ours is pretty classic, but I am a neuroscientist and he’s a physicist, and so during our marriage licence signing we are playing “she blinded me with science” by Thomas Dolby, and “Big Bang Theory” by the Barenaked ladies. It’s very us, and I’m sure people will laugh!

Total whovians over here! We are having a TARDIS photo booth, one of our colors is going to be TARDIS blue, we are naming the tables after planets/galaxies/etc from Doctor Who. Our center pieces are going to be modeled after Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” (one of my favorite artists, my favorite flower, and one of my favorite Destination Wedding episodes).

I would love to put elements of Harry Potter, but I’m not sure how to do it without making it look too busy/kitschy. But to honor our loved ones who have passed, we are going to have a rose (or something) and a sign that says “The ones that love us never truly leave us”.

I’m not as much the nerd as my Fiance, so ours will have little splashes of geekiness ๐Ÿ˜‰ I bought him Doctor Who cufflinks and tie bar and his wedding band has Gallifreyan symbols that spell out our names “for all TIME” on the band.

The part I am most excited about is that I am surprising him with our recessional. It will be the them to Doctor Who (11th Doctor), followed by the Imperial March, then the theme to Game of Thrones, and then, if there are still people in there coming out, Hedwig’s Theme. I also have the Throne Room song downloaded if we need it ๐Ÿ˜‰

If we end up doing a groom’s cake, it will be a TARDIS.

I am also DIY’ing a Selfie Booth. I was thinking to throw up a shower curtain as a backdrop (solid fabric + tension rod = easy and cheap LOL). Now you all have me thinking I could do a TARDIS curtain. I know I have seen them around…… ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks for the idea!!

HaHaha nice! Yes finally someone else with a less traditional theme. Ours is video games/LOTR bash. Our card box is the companion cube from Portal. Cake is super Mario with a dragon from Skyrim. Centerpieces are more rustic with grapevine wood and fake flowers, but will have mini video game figures stuck on top of it. Gifts include light sabers. oh and we also told guests to come in costume. So yea. Hope we don’t end up in one of those “themed weddings botched” buzzfeed articles. haha

We are ๐Ÿ™‚ Cake topper- The Princess Bride. Grooms cake- Superman flying around The Daily Planet. Program- mostly Star Wars but with Doctor Who, Harry Potter, and Superman references. Plus, a super secret project that will include our love of movies and of course include our favorite Han and Leia lines.

Hopefully she does not mind me posting this, Paintitblackcat9 has a YAG garnet. YAG garnets are used in lasers. I think that is the most awsome geek chic thing I have ever heard.

Please pinky promise to post a picture of the Death  Star cake.  DS is 20 and just starting college but when his time comes to get married I expect quite the nerdfest (said lovingly, of course) for a reception.  Congrats!

themoonofhislife:  haha,  we’re not sure yet…so far the only TARDIS  photo booth we found to rent is about a days drive away,  so it depends how far they are willing to go (and how much they want to charge).  I did find a working 3D cardboard cut out that we may try. Or we could ask my grandfather to help us make one. The wedding isn’t until October 2016, so we have some time to figure it out…

xstitchgal75:  LOVE the ring!  My future SIL bought us a TARDIS shower curtin for christmas last year.  I think she may have gotten ot from thinkgeek.com or you could try Amazon

themoonofhislife:  Sounds fun! We were originally going to have a Doctor Who wedding and I even had the TARDIS cake topper custom made but we ended up changing our theme. Cake topper doesn’t go with our theme but now we have a light up Iron Man cake topper haha. I ended up donating the TARDIS cake topper to Goodwill.
