I am so excited, in a few hours I fly out to Gen Con Indy with a plane load of friends to partake in “the best four days of gaming” for my bachelorette party! For those who don’t know, there will be close to 50,000 other people in attendance with similar hobbies. We are all staying at the same hotel and are planning to all get together for dinner and an AFMBE zombie game on Saturday night. In between there are many games we’ll see friends for and of corse drinks in between. Plus, I’ll be like a kid in a candy store (with a credit card) in the stadium worth of games and swag to oogle! Best of all my sister made me a costume from one of the video games that I used to play (Lucia from Lunar: Eternal Blue).
Any other lady-gamers out there? How are you incorportating games into your special day (or pre-parties)?
If you are in Indy this weekend look for me in my red cape and long blue hair!!

- Wedding: July 2018 - the oak tree of peover
ahh, that sounds incredible! i’m sure you’ll have an amazing time and love that you’re doing something you want to do rather than something you feel you have to!
me and my Fiance are both massive gamers, and it was one of the things that helped us to become best friends when we first met – resident evil especially, of which we are both still massive fans! whilst we’re still 2 years from the wedding we’re thinking of having gamer cake toppers – him with a chainsaw and me with a shotgun (our weapons of choice) fighting off the hoarde of zombies climbing the cake!
also we’re thinking of a stag/doe weekend and doing things like paintballing – some of which you can do themed such as, that’s right – zombies!
hope you have an awesome time! 🙂

I am not a gamer, but this is exactly what my Fiance wants for his. I hope his Best woman can pull it off!

We had a great time at Gen Con! To any who may be interested, I highly recommend the Saturday Midnight Zombie Game from 37 Zombies, which uses the All Flesh Must Be Eaten (AFMBE) system (rules lite, drinking/RP heavy) to kill your characters. The best part is that it is a TEAM game, so you work together with your table of 10 to plan a team strategy for when your turn comes around.
We also really enjoyed the Castle Faulkenstein LARP and the Call of Cthulhu LARP from Elder Entertainment, and even had fun at a SPA (spouse) event doing some needle felting. The only let down was True Dungeon which was not worth the $38/ticket versus a $4 table top game with far more story line.
All of the players we talked to were super friendly and we ended up eating dinner on Friday with 8 people we had never met before, except breifly in-game.
Pro Tip: We brought Mardi Gras beads shaped like dice (d6) to all of our events and handed them out afterwards, it was a great way to strike up a conversation with new friends. 🙂

That sounds like fun! I’m glad you had a great time, and it sounds like the perfect bachelorette party for you!
I’m not much of a bar/drinking person, so I’m hoping to have a day at the art museum and a fancy dinner for my bachelorette party.

We had a 8-bit video game “themed” wedding, but there was a fine line for us between making it wacky and making it cute and personal. We did not want any video game music or any dressing like characters. We kept the theme for the reception only and nothing of the sort was in the ceremony.
Table ID’s were 8-bit; these were the head table ID’s:
