Hey Bees! Need some help here.
Fiance is a HUGE Star Wars nerd. As as surprise for him at our reception, I am having a few members of the local 501st come in costume as stormtroopers and a Vader. I have seen the movies many times but want to make sure I am using the right references for when our DJ makes the announcement that they’re coming in.
Does it make sense for my DJ to say that the bride and groom will now be cutting their cake and then basically interrupt himself by saying “There is a disturbance in the Force….” and have the costumed guys come in? I want something else for the DJ to say in regards to them needing to be there to help escort us to the cake cutting table because they heard that rebels might be there (our cake topper is Han and Leia) but I can’t come up with a good quote! Please help!!!

Hmm I’m pretty good with Star Wars but I can’t think of anything right now!

Hmm… I like the “disturbance in the Force” line, and maybe he could add something about the possible presence of Rebels / the Empire having sensed your gathering? Ooh! Or he could announce that the bride & groom will now cut the cake, then cut in with a sound clip of Yoda saying “Not if anything to say about it I have!” (I know, I know, it’s from Revenge of the Sith, not the original trilogy, and may therefore be anathema to a die-hard Star Wars geek, but at least it’s *Yoda*, and the line could work as the interruption you need…) I wonder if you could get (or rig) a cake-cutting knife with a light saber handle…?
Sounds like great fun, in any case!

@GeekChic: I would email the 501st guys and ask them!

“I find your lack of cake . . . disturbing”

@batwoman: LOVE IT!
I love the idea personally, and if the local gents and ladies are up for it, I say run with the fun! As for the line, I do love Batgirl’s. Good luck with it!

@MielDeLavande: Funny you mention the lightsaber cutters…. There is a gal on Etsy, Darth Cutter, who creates custom lightsaber cake cutters… ordered mine, and love it!

I like the disturbance in the Force line! There’s also the classic “we’ve got company!” but that’s probably a little generic and won’t alert people to what’s going on. Batwoman’s line is excellent too. Your local 501st may have a great idea too.
Edit: oh dang, now I see your wedding was in June. Please let us know how this went, it sounds fantastic!

I’d change it to the DJ saying “Wait, I sense a disturbance in the force!”
