Whenever I get a manicure my nails chip by the end of the day because I am very active, have a couple of doogs, clean the house etc. Because of this I have gotten Gel manicure instead and I love them. They last and stand up to anything for at least a couple of weeks. But unfortunatly I cannot afford to spend $35 every two weeks right now.
Does anyone know if Gel Manicures are something you can do yourself? Is there a kit that I can do my nails using the gel myself?

Where are you located? In NYC, Groupon has had a different gel deal almost everyday. It’s so complicated that I don’t think I could DIY but if you have steady hands maybe.

I just got a no chip for $30 and it’s lasted me for three weeks so far without any signs of wear and tear. @heather25: is right though…you can always find a deal for these!

@heather25- I am in Boston and the least expensive salon that does a good job is still $35.

@roxy821: Eek, that is pricey. Well stay on the deal sites and see if you can find one if no one can give you better info on DIY.

@heather25- I know! Thats why I was wondering about a DIY method but I’ll see what I can find for deals at different salons.

Ladies! I’ve posted on my blog about how to DIY a gel manicure–no UV lamp needed! It’s very simple; it’s not an exact gel manicure but it’s as close as you’ll get for a DIY.
You can find it here.

yes there is a kit you can do yourself! I bought mine at Wal-mart, it’s called BROADWAY Nails, Real Life brush-on gel nail kit. It comes with everything you need, I used it and it turned out great! It lasted for about a week and a half, maybe 2 weeks, I dont really remember, but thats because I saw a tiny crack after a while and I started picking at it and ruined them 😡 But the kit was around $10 and super easy to do! The instructions are simple and easy to understand, I highly recommend it! and its cheap enough to get so you can do a trial before decidind on it for your day 🙂
and here are my gel nails…:)
