Do you want gel nails or just the shellac type polish? I have Gelish and a UV lamp that I got from Amazon. But I see similar products in regular drugstores all the time now. Just go check out your local nail polish aisle! It takes some practice though.

I use the Gelish kit and Gelish mini LED lamp from Sally Beauty. The kit includes all of the items you need for curing/setting/etc. If you join the Beauty Club (I think it’s $5), you get pretty nice discounts on all Sally products. Then you just pick out the Gelish colors you want to use!

@VikingPrincess:  I buff my nails first to make them “rougher”. Then I swipe a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol to dry them out a bit. Makes it easier for the polish to adhere. The Gelish stuff I use has a base coat that you cure, then whatever gel polish you use (you can even use regular polish but you have to let it dry completely before the top coat). Then I cure the top coat and it’s still a little bit sticky, so I take a lens cleaning wipe and rub each nail down to remove the sticky residue after curing. Voila, they’re solid and shiny! I also bought the Gelish pink soak off solution and I soak a cotton ball in it and then use tinfoil to hold it on top of my nail for 5-10 mins to break the stuff down into a gummy crap that you can scrape off. It’s definitely more work than regular polish, but I get about 7-10 days of perfect nails out of it.

I got the Red Carpet one at Ulta also. It works pretty well, but not quite as good as the salons. I found that after a few months I had a hard time keeping it on my nails for more than 3-4 days – it just lifted right off the nail, like a bubble under the gel.
