meganandbabies:  i used to sell fine jewelry! rubies are a great choice for an engagement ring there are only two things i’d think about with your current ring choice:

1. 10k gold is fairly low grade. all this really means is that there are lots of other metals mixed into the gold so it won’t look quite as bright as 14k or 18k gold. now that’s not a bad thing necessarily, but if you are allergic to lots of metals (like I am( you might have an allergic reaction to 10k gold. you probably won’t have any reaction with 14k or anything above.

2. that size is a lot on your finger. a huge stone like that wouldn’t be comfortable for me personally so i’d just think about daily wear. will you cook with it on? work out with it? toss winter gloves on over it? for me that large of a ring would get in the way but that’s totally personal preference.

all in all rubies are a great choice πŸ™‚ have fun shopping

I wanted a sapphire engagement ring, but Fiance is very traditional in the sense that he wanted a diamond engagement ring for me. Although a couple of years before he proposed he did get me this as an RHR, which is the style I wanted for my e-ring (go figure πŸ˜…).

I love that ruby ring, I would get it in a heartbeat. If set low enough like this sapphire I don’t think it’ll get in the way of stuff too much. 😁

I think it is a beautiful ring. I would wear the heck out of it.

I love gemstones. I would personally prefer a smaller stone that is natural. Lab made gemstones have a very “Jell-O” look to me, especially when they are so large.

I have a sapphire engagement ring and love it! Nothing wrong with a diamond ring but it isn’t for everybody.  My sapphire is natural and a lot smaller, but if you like wearing big jewelry I don’t see anything wrong with your ruby.  It’s the perfect color.

meganandbabies:

That Ruby is nothing less than stunning. If you are considering it I say go for it. What are your concerns?

I LOVE my pink sapphire Ering. It’s almost as hard a diamond and since I don’t actually wear alot of jewelry I adore my piece of colored ‘bling’ and don’t worry about conflicting with outfits. I work in a brewery (read w/my hands) and my setting doesn’t cause me any problems. The setting might be considered high by some but I just rock it and make sure to wash it once a week.

meganandbabies:  My favorites have to be blue sapphire, opal (But it’s pretty soft on the hardness scale so beware), emerald, and aquamarine. Something about aquamarine lately and diamond halos has really caught my eye.

My birthstone is ruby. Im honestly not a huge fan of red gemstones for jewelry on myself but I can certainly appreciate it on other others. Go with your heart!

I’ve found a morganite ring that I love. Just waiting for Fiance2B to get it and pop the question. Even if it wasn’t a cost concern the ring you want is what is personal to you. Cost certainly wasn’t a concern when princess Diana got married and her Sapphire Ring became famous (even more so the second time on Kate). Go for what you love.

I think gemstone engagement rings are fabulous, and the one that you’ve posted is certainly no exception! Lab made gemstones are a great choice for the budget conscious, as well as those who have issues with the mining of natural stones.  Personally, I love both lab created and natural stones, and own some of both,  so I say, get whatever makes you and your Fiance happy, and  is within your budget.  πŸ˜€

love gemstone e-rings!! i have seen some real drool worthy ones on this site! 100% if my fiance didn’t have his late mom’s diamond i would have gone the gemstone route… either a sapphire or a morganite. they are so gorgeous and interesting and different but still say e-ring. plus, no to mention, the added bonus of being able to really get a bang for your buck.
