(Closed) Gemstone rings….

    No way, a diamond is the only thing acceptable!

    I want/have one

    Beautiful, but not for me.

    People who get gemstones are cheap.

    I don't have one, but I also wouldn't mind having one.

    I love gemstones- especially blue ones. My birthstone is a sapphire, and I love Princess Di’s/Kate Middleton’s ring (but for some reason, the replicas don’t do it for me, it’s just THAT ring). I wanted a sapphire halo but I recently fell in love with a diamond solitaire, which I never would’ve imagined.

    @TwilightBlue:  You had the same ring I have, right?  I’m so sorry to hear that you lost it. ๐Ÿ™  What happened?  I’d be devastated if I lost mine.  This one:

    @MoonlightRose:

    Yes, we had the same engagement and wedding ring set. I am so heartbroken.  Here is what I think happened… I am in the process of losing weight and have lost a good bit. My rings were getting loose but I decided to wait until summer to get them sized as I was hoping to be on a maintenance plan by then. I didn’t want to have to have them sized more than once. So anyway, I work from home which means I can take my 3 Goldens for a walk during the day to get my exercise in. My personal trainer (dog number 2) makes sure I get out every day to walk 3 miles. I lost my rings on a walk.  It was a cold windy day so I was wearing gloves.  I remember seeing my rings as I put my gloves on. I never take them off except for cooking and cleaning and if I were to go swimming. My phone rang on that fateful day. I took my glove off to answer my cell. I think I pulled the rings off with the glove.  I didn’t notice until I got home.  I went back to where I answered my phone but I couldn’t see anything. There was snow on the ground.  I called my husband sobbing.  He thought I had been hit by a car or something because I was hysterical.  He and a friend showed up with a metal detector but they couldn’t find it. I go back every day and have told everyone I know that walks that way about losing my rings in hope that someone will find them.  Nothing yet and it has been snowing so I don’t think I will ever find them.  Those rings meant so much to me. They were a symbol of our love and commitment.  My husband wanted to buy the same set again but I didn’t want to since it wouldn’t be the same.   I love my Moissy but I would rather have my Claddagh Sapphire set. Eventually if I don’t find the set I will have to find a new wedding band ring. I look every day for my rings. I have been praying so hard that some miracle will happen and I will find them again.

    @soontobemrsm11:  Maybe they confused “gemstone” with “rhinestone.”

    Here is the ring that my SO is going to buy me (very soon, I hope!), with a white topaz stone.

    It took a bit of convincing that he didn’t need to buy me a diamond. He wants to show my dad the ring when he asks for his blessing, and I think he was worried that my dad would scoff or something if it wasn’t a diamond. But I reminded him that my dad knows very well that I’m a stubborn independent lady and anything my SO shows him is probably exactly what I asked for, haha.

    I’m pretty much a big fan of most shiny jewelry regardless. I’m mostly very nitpicky about the setting. Out of hundreds of heart-shaped rings on the internet, this is literally the only one I like.

    @TwilightBlue:  I’m so sorry. ๐Ÿ™ *hug* I hope you find them!  If you can’t, what if you bought a Claddagh wedding band to go with your new engagement ring?  You can buy some really beautiful bands now that have the Claddagh symbol etched/engraved on them. ๐Ÿ™‚

    @soontobemrsm11:  I’m with you my ring cost a very pretty penny and appraised for double. That stone comes from one mine in the world, and its mined out. Only a select few cutters got stone from that mine. There were a few variations from that mine but only small plots of each. Now that the word is out its becoming big amoungst collectors but the supply is pretty much dry. What color and what mine is your stone coming from? Is it alexandrite color change or paradschapa?

    I honeslty never thought about having a gemstone ring until he actually proposed with one. I am so in love with it and could never see myself with anything else!

    Heres mine:

    @dewingedpixie:  I actually don’t know what mine, my jeweler found it at a de Beers warehouse & picked it out. It’s an unheated yellow sapphire and that’s really all I know other than the price right now. I’ll have to ask where it’s from, though, when I talk to my jeweler next. I looked into padparadscha but I didn’t want a pink stone (though there were a few peach colored stones that I considered!) What stone do you have?

    @soontobemrsm11:  I have a purple color change from the Umba mine in Tanzania. Its what is known as an alexandrite shift.
