Anyone have any recommendations on how to find a makeup artist, especially if you’re not in a major city? I’ve been hitting a wall on my search. We’re getting married in my hometown in Kentucky (not near Louisville, Lexington, etc.). I haven’t lived there in 10 years, so I’m doing this all from another state. Web searches and looking at message boards hasn’t turned anything up (just one salon). Any good tips? Thanks!

This is hard and I work in a salon as a stylist. If you call a salon they will tell you that they are all really good because that is what they have to say. To be honest with you most of your make up artist know what they are doing because they were trained in which colors to use and how to apply them. I think your best bet is to ask your wedding consultant or someone you know who still is in your hometown where the best place is to go. Otherwise, take your chance on that one salon. You could maybe go get a trial from them when you visit before the wedding. Give them a call and ask some questions like what kind of makeup they use, how much experience the girls have, and so on. Good luck I hope this helped a little bit!

Jenine D- what kind of makeup is "good" for wedding makeup? If we call and ask, what should we be looking for?
