Where the guy went undercover to the store they told him there was no differnce in EGL/EGL-US/GIA and then inflated appraisals from all three gradings.
And the employees claim they were told to tell customers this, not that they wanted to.
Personally, Fiance did A LOT of research to insure he understood as much as possible before buying from anywhere. Luckily we avoided this!
But because Genesis is advertised in Nashville as THE store to go to and that you can trust them to guide through the processes if you have never bought a diamond before, I believe thats why people here are so upset. And that they have commercials being backed by our Pro Football team and local radio sations and Country music stars.
Its actually sad! I work right next to the store! And customers have been in all day wanting to talk to the owners.

I’m also from nashville and have seen it all over the news I think it is shady that they dont make people aware that egl grading is different than Gia but I also think it is up to the consumer to educate themselves. When i went diamond shopping I knew the difference between egl igl and Gia, and that basically anything that wasn’t GIA would be off a little. My ring is from Shane co and they explained the difference to me while shopping although I already knew, I really appreciated that they made sure I was taught the 4cs and aware of the differences in lab grading. one associate also told me that genesis was sketchy and sold low quality egl diamonds and didn’t explain to consumers what they were buying way before the news broke out About it.

I feel like if you don’t know EGL is miles off from GIA that’s your own fault?

But really if they’re gonna go after genesis over this they better go after kays zales and all the other mall jewelers that sell diamond rings that aren’t even graded!

Thats exactly what happened to me! People kept being like “Girl no! They are sketchy!”
I am really happy to have never gone to them! I feel like for such a big investment people should make sure they are well educated on what they are buying. But, I feel bad for the people that thought they could trust them because of all their backers and being called “The most trusted” and “Best place to buy an engagement ring in Nashville.” 🙁
I feel bad for the people who were mislead.

What! I already dislike Genesis because they were AWFUL to me at the Cool Springs store. Just such snobby, awful people. Boaz Ramon, the owner, is insanely rude when you email them. He wouldn’t let me see a setting without ordering a diamond first. (What?)
So I’m not too surprised they’re fooling the clients that trust in them. I wouldn’t buy a ring from them if they gave me half off. I’ll find my Daussi elsewhere, ladies!
