@Keltaena: Hey there! Yeah their prices are surprisingly low. Kind of shockingly low for that area/market. Interesting. It does appear that you’re getting the raw digital files not edited, so that’s something to consider. Much of what goes into pricing for photographers is the time they spend after the wedding painstakingly editing every image, so if they’re not doing that it makes the price a little more understandable.

Also, some of the image editing is a little weird/amateur to me – lots of super over saturation, glowyness, blown highlights, sloppy vignetting, etc. But then other images are exposed and edited perfectly. I think you run into this sort of thing working with a company where the skill level will vary and sometimes one not so great photographer can be subbed in last minute for the photographer you originally thought you were getting. I dunno – are other photographers seeing the weird editing or is it just me?

Other things to consider: from what I’ve read, you don’t get those digital negatives until a YEAR after the wedding, and it doesn’t seem like you’ll have print rights to them even after you get them a year later. This means you’ll have to buy prints and albums from them, which might make the overall price much more than what’s listed. I don’t know what their print pricing is but the reviews I’ve read say the albums are extremely expensive. This is totally ok – every photographer/company works differently. Some give you the images and allow you to make your own albums and prints (which is very cost-effective in the long run).  I’m thinking you could find an equally talented photographer/company that perhaps charges more but also gives you more in terms of editing, high resolution files, print rights, lower-cost albums, etc. What’s most important to you?

@Keltaena: That’s great then! I wonder why there are so many reviews out there saying they don’t do those things. If they do then go for it! As far as a second shooter . . . how many guests are expecting? So many people hire second shooters when they really don’t need to!
