I’m going to leave my opinion out since I’m African-American and I feel like this is a very racially sensitive case.

ETA: but I will be keeping a close eye on this bc I am soooo intrigued!

I have no idea how they will be able to pick a jury for this.  I can’t wait for the trial.  I think it would be awesome if the jury all showed up wearing hoodies.  But i guess that would cause a mistrial…

This is crazy. I live next door to the townhouses this happened in. Our little city is so busy right now and full of media coverage. Zimmermans face is all over billboards driving through Orlando. It’s super weird.

I’ll keep my comments to myself. No, I won’t. GUILTY.

I have to say that I’m not AS interested in this case as I initially was because Zimmerman isn’t going to use the “stand your ground” defense, right?

I agree that I can’t understand how the jurors aren’t swayed. The only thing I could see is that the coverage of the trial died down a lot so maybe opinions aren’t as strong or people forgot a lot of the coverage they saw.

It will be impossible to get an impartial jury.  The case has become too much of a sensation.  He will be found guilty or plead out before it’s all said and done.  According to what the media has said, I would think he is guilty but the media isn’t required to present facts.  I’ll be interested to watch as the case unfolds.  I’m particularly interested in the defense’s strategy.  Do they plan to televise all of it?

@s2bmrscook:  Unfortunately, that’s impossible.  That’s sociology 101 – you don’t forget what you’ve heard or seen.  It affects your judgment consciously or subconsciously.  ETA: even if what you remember is wrong.

@s2bmrscook:  I used to own a house just down the street from where the shooting occurred.  It’s a standard middle class neighborhood right across the street from the local elementary school.

They will most likely televise the trial; Seminole County is right next door to Orange County where the Casey Anthony trial was held two years ago.

As far as an impartial jury; it’s a very small county so pretty much everyone had heard about the case and has an opinion.  I find it unlikely that any jury will convict him of second degree murder so I am more interested in whether they find him guilty of a lesser offense or let him off.  I can say that the local police have riot plans ready for in case he is acquitted.  Surprised

@s2bmrscook:  I wasn’t referring to televising the trial.  I was referring to asking a potential juror if they will not include anything they have heard/read/seen in their verdict.  I think we posted at the same time I wasn’t responding to your second comment regarding televising the trial.
